Hobbes LeGOAT is by far the best CS/Math professor I've had at UW. The exams can be tough, the average on the final was 67.5%, but it's a required course for CS and ECE so Hobbes is the best choice. Lectures were helpful and the course structure is pretty decent as well.Rate My Professors ↗

The professor did not provide enough helpful practice materials, making it difficult to prepare for exams and assignments. Lectures were often confusing and spent too much time on single problems, making them hard to follow. Projects felt unnecessarily long with busy work, and the lack of TAs made getting help difficult.Rate My Professors ↗
Taking CS 300 in Spring is a great way to tank your GPA. Hobbes loves a 17.8 percent A rate and making you hand-write code in 2026. Very "forward-thinking." Lectures are a puzzle where the prize is being more confused than before. If you enjoy 1,500+ Zybook points and a syllabus designed to make you fail, this is the perfect nightmare for you.Rate My Professors ↗
Avoid CS 300 in Spring. Hobbes uses a syllabus that resulted in a 17.8 percent A rate in 2025. Lectures are unclear and the 1,500+ Zybook points create an unreasonable workload. In 2026, she still requires hand-written code, which is outdated and unhelpful. The course structure is designed to confuse rather than teach. Save your GPA and wait.Rate My Professors ↗
Hobbes is great, no doubt. CS300 could be more interesting though.Rate My Professors ↗
She's awesome! I really enjoyed the lectures (that are live streamed by the way), and she did a fantastic job of explaining complex topics.Rate My Professors ↗
