About this rating

Raw average: 2.49/5 from 41 quality ratings. The adjusted rating blends this with the UW review average (3.66/5), weighted as 20 additional ratings. Smaller samples stay closer to that average. Each captured review is counted once in the prior; this does not correct who chooses to leave a review.

I'm still sorry I took my first anthro class from this guy, more than 30 years later.

Extremely knowledgeable. I wouldn't want to take this course from anyone else. Plan on reading a lot: he assigns a heavy reading load and I think a lot of people don't read much and wind up having a bad time, but if you read you'll enjoy the class.

Salomon is a really nice old school anthropologist. Emphasize old school. If you want to do well in Anthro 300; memorize EVERYTHING--especially the little details. He's difficult to understand, so be prepared to look up other places. Wish I would've known this stuff.

It's not a hard subject, but he does his damndest to make it unnecessarily so. He overcomplicates things by explaining them in lofty terms and completely kills any interest a person could have in this subject. Take this if you've got a lot of time to devote to readings so you can re-read them and maybe get an idea for what he's talking about. Nice

Dr. Salomon is at times an overflowing pot of words, but they all matter. His lectures are engaging and his level of caring and interest is truly conveyed. Willing to help, interested in student success. Do they readings on time, makes lecture more meaningful and understandable. Almost a history class, the case studies are great.

Worst professeur I ever had. So incredibly BORING. And he assigns the most dreadful books to read. His tests are not that easy either. Avoid him!
