FLORENCIA MALLON

Very unorganized. With history especially, unless the broader context is thoroughly explained it seems just like random facts. Also, the class would be better if it focused on specific countries in depth rather than attempting to cover all of Latin America.

She was a very nice, entertaining teacher but she was very unorganized. She was one of those teachers that is too smart and knows too much and doesn't know how to teach it to students not familiar with the topic. She gave out lecture outlines but never followed them and it made the class very confusing because it went all over the place.

Loved Prof. Mallon! Very interesting class and lecturer. Ran the class in 3 units with 5 weeks per unit. Paper after each unit and that was it besides weekly reading. TA was great too, which made the class great. I highly recommend taking a class with Mallon!

You may not realize it, but Mallon is one of the best professors you'll have at UW. She's a talented lecturer with an outstanding knowledge of the material she teachers. Definitely take any class you have the opportunity to with her.

Professor Mallon was a great lecturer who was very knowledgeable on Latin American history. She made what might seem to be a boring history lecture fun and interesting. She engaged the class with the right amount of questions, videoclips, and images to keep our attention. I would highly recommend History 242 to anyone who has an interest in LA.

Absolutely wonderful! You have to do the work, but she makes latin america so interesting, and the grading is very fair. not an ideal class for slackers.
