Professor Sober has a really good sense of humor and it is evident that he enjoys his job. The whole grade is based off of one paper and two exams, and the exams are all short answer questions. He grades them pretty easily.

He's a good guy, but this class is rough. The first two months are basically statistics. DO NOT TAKE FOR QUANT A CREDIT IF NOT A VERY ANALYTICAL PERSON. There's a lot of outside reading. He gives a lot of really good feedback on assignments, but there are only three assignments anyway. Very passionate dude.

He's a great lecturer. He uses presentations to teach the content & does his best to explain everything which admittedly can be a little tricky sometimes but going over the presentation slides which are made available online makes it alright. The Discussion requires you to go over the content of previous week and come up with questions in advance.

Very interesting class but is really challenging and complex. Would recommend a science major to take it because of its reflection on science, but for a Philosophy major I would say other philosophy classes would be more beneficial.

Sober was a great guy. I loved his humor and really enjoyed the subject. His lectures are a bit long and talky and seem rather unprepared but he makes up for it with a fairly strong understanding of the subject matter.

Wow, its almost like he's purposely trying to explain things poorly. Direct quote: "some people think that dividing by zero is 'undefined' *makes air quotes*." Nice.

He does a good job at introducing and clarifying articles that were pretty hard to read. Our book had some dumb articles about feminism and values that probably should be ignored. I also liked his idiosyncrasies, like when he speaks extra loud to emphasize a point. : )

I really liked Professor Sober. He definitely can talk himself in circles and can be very, very confusing, but he COMPLETELY spelled out what is on the exam and the class requires very little effort outside of studying for the few exams he does give.

Professor Sober really knows what he is talking about... sometimes he gets pretty confusing but he is a good guy who will definitely give help if needed. He is also a generous grader.

He sometimes talks in circles. But he is very helpful both in and out of class and he really cares about his students. A pretty easy grader as well.

Great teacher. Sober is very engaging, answering even the most difficult questions you might ask about philosophy. He's willing to admit when he's wrong even! He has a brilliant mind and describes the concepts VERY clearly, hell, he even wrote the textbook for the class, I plan on keeping the book for later reference.

Good class. Not too intimidating. Sober doesn't grade harshly and wants to help you learn the material, so ask questions and go to office hours! This is a class where talking to others about the ideas REALLY helps - form study groups before exams! If you do the review sheet thoroughly, you'll be fine on exams. Be clear and specific on papers.

Class was interesting and not too difficult. You need to read the textbook. Sober clearly knows his stuff and makes the lectures interesting and engaging.

Great professor. Great class. He wrote the book which is nice. If you like to think and are looking for a good honors class, this is a good one. Not too demanded, just thought-provoking.

Professor Sober was great; he is a leader in the field. We read books he wrote and he supplemented them. It was very effective. Great topic too
