Dan is great. I am majoring in entom so I might be biased, but I think even if you aren't into insects this class is really interesting and fun bc he just knows so many fun little facts. You can tell he really cares.

Dr. Young was a great professor! He's a funny old beetle taxonomist. I took his FIG course, and he was really enjoyable. You do have to read quite a bit of material, but if you find biodiversity interesting it isn't that bad. Just know that he doesn't use canvas, and instead only emails. Overall though, he made my first semester a good one!

Dr Young is easily the best professor I've had during my time at UW, really funny guy and really passionate about the topic. The content isn't particularly easy but it is taught enthusiastically so it makes it easier to learn and actually understand.

Dan is probably my favorite professor I've ever had. I did his FIG freshman year and then took this class so that I could have him as a prof again. So funny, and really cares about getting his students just as excited as he is about insects. This class is definitely a lot of work -- but Dan does a great job of helping you through everything.

Dan is the best professor I met ever! In entomology, he was able to expertly answer every tricky question asked by students. Dan is so professional to identify every insects of my collection in few seconds. During the lectures, Dan helped students understand obscure and difficult points in a fun and clear way while ensuring professionalism.

Dan Young is the best professor I have ever had at UW, I cant put it into words how much I love and appreciate this man and the wonder he instills in me over insects. He has inspired me to major in entomology and I found the collection to be the most fun part of the course. Lab exams can be a pain sometimes but the field work is very fun 11/10
