Professor Chao Fu is an incredible instructor! She's extremely helpful, explains everything thoroughly with clear, logical structure, and her detailed slides, in-class exercises, and homework closely reflect the exams. The content is definitely very challenging, and the exams are tough, but she is definitely one of the better professors I've had here. Lectures aren't mandatory, but I would heavily recommend attending all of them. You gotta attend the lectures, you can't get what you need from the textbook but you absolutely can from Professor Fu.
