About this rating

Raw average: 2.64/5 from 14 quality ratings. The adjusted rating blends this with the UW review average (3.66/5), weighted as 20 additional ratings. Smaller samples stay closer to that average. Each captured review is counted once in the prior; this does not correct who chooses to leave a review.

He is passionate about culture and Spanish speaking opportunities in the city. He is very educated about literature and linguistics. He is caring and reliable for helping each passionate and motivated student´s success. I enjoyed talking and learning interactively, but some Americans prefer rigid outlines instead.

Arsenio is pretty personable. He rather talk about culture and happening topics that the actual class work. He does favor students, accepts late homework, and takes attendance but do not take advantage of his leniency because he will notice. Try to be on his good side and you will probably get a good grade.

Arsenio was my TA for Spanish 223...I strongly disliked him. In discussion we hardly EVER discussed lecture material, just talked about "culture." He called on the same 3-4 people in my discussion, giving no one else a chance to earn participation. Definitely favors people. Extremely picky with essays, but doesn't give advice on how to improve.

First off, Arsenio is a spanish speaking native from Cuba- so if your going to complain about having a spanish speaker to listen to- dont take him. However, if you want your Spanish abilities to improve- I advise you to take Arsenio. I had him as a TA for 223, and I really enjoyed his class. He may speak quickly, but it helped me pronounce better!

Avoid Arsenio! I love Spanish, but this class was a HUGE waste of my time! Arsenio is really nice, but I would rather go to the pub with him than have him as a teacher. DUE DATES CHANGE ALL THE TIME. LOTS of busy work, but at least it was easy. You'll need to learn everything on your own time outside of class to succeed.
