About this rating

Raw average: 3.83/5 from 53 quality ratings. The adjusted rating blends this with the UW review average (3.66/5), weighted as 20 additional ratings. Smaller samples stay closer to that average. Each captured review is counted once in the prior; this does not correct who chooses to leave a review.

Thought this class was gonna be a cakewalk, the first midterm was quite easy, then the second was pretty hard, then the third was brutal. The final was also tough. Overall lectures are very skippable and just pay attention and try your best in labs and early readings. Ended up with an A so can't be too upset.

I had no coding experience prior to this and I found the course to be super easy. The course is structured very well, so the concepts are taught in an effective manner.

Andy overall designed the course really well. Besides the weekly quizzes, I thought CS 200 was fun. The workload is a little heavy, but it really becomes "busy work." Mainly, just don't procrasinate and try to understand Java. Lectures aren't too helpful (don't need to attend), but labs were enjoyable. Great TAs and most learning is done here.

All of these bad reviews are about the course not the professor. He was extremely helpful and accommodating to me and my friends in the course. The weekly quizzes were annoying but were open for 9 hours. His lectures also were very helpful and he normally told people half of the midterm content and gave very clear labs and slides to refer to.
