About this rating

Raw average: 4.50/5 from 10 quality ratings. The adjusted rating blends this with the UW review average (3.66/5), weighted as 20 additional ratings. Smaller samples stay closer to that average. Each captured review is counted once in the prior; this does not correct who chooses to leave a review.

Prof Lang is great. She's very knowledgeable and nice, and her lectures are good. Quizzes and assignments aren't too difficult. I'm not AOS major but I still liked her class.

As long as you attend the lectures, it will be easy to receive a good grade. Many assignments outside of tests help you get a good grade. The professor is a nice person.

Quality 2/5Difficulty 4/5
For an intro course, the coursework is pretty fast-paced and difficult to understand. Her lectures definitely do not need to be 1 hour 15 mins. First solid chunk of the lecture she always analyzes climate "current events," which tend to be irrelevant to the quizzes and homework. Not an engaging speaker. TAs grade harshly, slowly, nonconstructively.

Prof. Lang was amazing when I took her (Fall 2024)! Good lectures, and tests were almost all from the slides. Never bought or read the book and got an A. Seems to genuinely care about her students and is passionate. Here lectures are most certainly not boring. I would recommend taking her, but this class isn't easy if you're looking for an easy A.

Great lecturer and knew what she was talking about! Tests were online and lecture covered everything. Homework was pretty challenging as it was worth less than 10 points, so a couple points off meant a bad grade. You had to explain everything in depth and it often wasn't clear what she was looking for in a response. Otherwise, I recommend!
