Amy is a blast and CSD424 is such a fun class. She makes learning about sign language and deaf culture so interesting. She is always willing to chat before and after class. She's so knowledgeable & kind if you have questions or comments. Class is great because it's very low-stress. I love that Amy brings in local deaf/HH people for interviews.Rate My Professors ↗
She's an interpreter on campus and knows what it's like to learn sign language. Easily one of the best and easiest classes I've taken. Brings in guest speakers and tries to make lectures interesting yet beneficial. Currently have a 105% in the class thanks to extra credit. CSD 424 was by far the easiest, yet most interesting, class I have ever taken. I got a 105% in the class due to extra credit and only went to lecture maybe once every other week because I work night shift. Amy Free was a great professor for an introduction to ASL! She is very clear on what she expects from students. It is easy to do well in class if you go to lectures. Sign time is a great way to get extra practice if you want but unnecessary to get a good grade in the class. Exams online and in person.Rate My Professors ↗
Very easy and seems very nice, but if you ever have to talk to her in person beware. Not nice out of class and on email. Spent a lot of time complaining about having to teach the class, talked to a group of people that she was not a part of, and will call you out if you don't know the answer to something.
