Al is a lot better in 620. Corp tax 2 is largely a repeat of 621. You get harder problems on the repeat stuff and only learn new content about mergers after spring break. Al is sweet, but an unclear communicator. Everything was on paper (no canvas) pre-covid. Al still cares and tries to grade fair. Long live the joke challenge

Al is something else. He is really funny and always has creative examples. His tests are difficult, but if you put in the work doing the problems ahead of class, you'll be in great shape. Most HW is unassigned, and takes the best 4/5 letter assignments (quick to do). Great class, a bit disorganized, but worth the ride.

Al tries hard to make the boring materials interesting. However, it's somehow hard for me to follow his lecture. Tips for this class: focus on what he discusses in class and review the textbook as if you are taking a closed-book exam. If you just know where the rules are but don't remember them, you probably won't have time to find them in the book

Al is one of my favorite professors. He's so positive and happy and has great stories. I agree with previous posters that he makes the dry material interesting. The class is HARD - make sure you do the homework and read the book. Even though tests are open book and open notes, you MUST study beforehand like you would any other class.

Al is the best professor I've ever had at UW. Great guy and makes the otherwise dry material interesting. Class is hard and need to read chapters beforehand in order to not fall behind. Very enjoyable class if you allow it to be and would take another class with Al if I had the opportunity

I don't think that Al cares too much about students' grades in his course, as much as he does completing as much material as possible. Tax is the most demanding subject within accounting, so 2 days per chapter is not sufficient. Perhaps removing some material and focusing more could help students, but that doesn't seem to be Al's goal.
