  • Identify opportunities and appreciate careers that are relevant for innovating in cities domestically and globally.

  • Analyze sustainability issues and/or practices using a systems-based approach (e.g., urban metabolism).

  • Understand the interactions between diverse groups living together in cities, and analyze the tensions and possibilities.

  • Translate course concepts into opportunities for leadership and action from the private, non-profit, and public sectors within cities, especially as it relates to being an urban leader grounded in equity and social justice.

  • Frame complex public issues concisely in writing to city leaders about the issues.
