  • Describe the biodiversity of true tungi (Eumycota) and other organisms traditionally included in studies of mycology.

  • Describe the fundamentals of fungal systematics, life cycles, genetics, pathology, evolution, ecology.

  • Describe the practical uses of fungi in agriculture, industry, medicine, and as model organisms.

  • Manipulate fungi in the laboratory by isolating and culturing them from the environment, use both dissecting and compound microscopes to see living and preserved organisms, extract and sequence their DNA, and implement bioinformatics pipelines.

  • Elucidate major unanswered questions in the field of mycology.
