Describe the different histories and historiographies of cultural studies of Asia.
Use different materials, such as academic analysis, literature, memoir and legal documents, and also cultural political production beyond text, such as film and visual art, to interrogate what is at stake (intellectually, politically, culturally and socially) in how stories about the past, and its resonances in the present, are recorded, represented, and circulated.
Critically discuss comparative theories (across time, across identity, across space) thinking about Asia.
Understand multiple perspectives scholars use to study society in Asia and use these perspectives in a comparative analysis.
