  • Identify the main idea and some details in simple Japanese texts that contain familiar vocabulary.

  • Interpret short and simple everyday conversations in Japanese.

  • Communicate basic needs and ideas in common conversational situations (e.g., asking for permissions, expressing opinions, explaining reasons, etc.).

  • Write simple memos, letters, and essays (e.g., daily routine, favorite trips, family, etc.) in Japanese.

  • Recognize basic Japanese cultural practices.
