Analyze how African American thinkers simultaneously reflect and complicate liberal, conservative, nationalist, and materialist political thought.
Examine how African American thinkers understand sexism in African American political thought and racism in feminist thought.
Interrogate contemporary debates in African American political theory including, but not limited to, the parameters of effective black leadership.
Assess the state of a body of scholarly literature related to course themes, identify gaps in that literature, and formulate an original research question in the context of those gaps.
