Learned so much in this class! Dr. Palmer organized the course very nicely and the readings were very helpful. Weekly quizzes, but they were pretty easy as long as you do the readings! The presentations were chill too, and well explained. Expectations are very clearly outlined, overall a very useful course!
Dr. Palmer is a very knowledgeable and passionate professor, perfect for teaching International Communication. She fosters interesting discussions and encourages all students to participate in order to better understand the content. The one note I do have is how particular she is with grading, so be sure to read her project instructions carefully.
Professor Palmer is a great professor who is very knowledgeable about the material. The class is well organized, with clear expectations from the start. What stood out most is how seriously she takes students' opinions and feedback. I would definitely recommend taking a class with Professor Palmer again!
Prof Palmer is great, very smart and encourages good class discussion. Took International Communication with her, she makes sure to incorporate history and theory in meaningful and interesting ways.
I loved Dr. Palmer as a professor and looked forward to her class. I took Journ 620, International Journalism, in Fall 2025. It is clear she cares a lot about her students and the course, and is very knowledge about the material. The class was very organized and structured; you know exactly what you need to do to succeed.
She is very fair and respectful to students. I learned a lot and she is one of the very best instructors I have had. I look at international news differently now. For example, "third world country" is condescending and I see it in the news and recognize it. I look differently at international news. She is very interactive in teaching methods.
Dr. Palmer is a really knowledgeable instructor, She crafts her classes around critical thinking and fosters healthy discussion.
Very interesting class, chill professor.
Prof. Palmer was very knowledgeable on each of the lessons taught! She encouraged participation and it was clear she truly cares about her students.
The teacher is very attentive in class and gives grades objectively. However, there are quite a lot of reading materials, so it takes some time to study

It was my favorite J-School class I have taken so far!
Would have given a 5/5 if the attendance policy wasn't the way it was.
Amazing teacher. This class was set up seminar style so we all were graded heavily on participating... aka just raising our hand in class
Dr. Palmer really wanted us to participate which I enjoyed. She allowed everyone to speak their minds.
Professor Palmer is a joy to be around. Gave us a bunch of extra credit assignments, she wanted us to succeed.
Had some difficult tests, but overall was a caring and inspirational teacher.
The best! She was always such a delight to be in class with.
Dr. Palmer always made sure every opinion was heard and respected
Best teacher!
She was truly my favorite teacher I had so far in the J-school. Dr. Palmer was always so quick to answer emails, and she really tried to make each student succeed in her class.
Professor Palmer is a kind hearted professor who really knows what she's talking about. She's forgiving with grading and prioritizes experience and learning over letter grade. J335 is a class that really needs to be taught in the real world, and that is just how she teaches it, but getting students out and learning in the field. She is a delight!
Yikes. Others have said she is passive aggressive, and they were right. She was fine to me, but I watched her treat other students terribly. I will not be taking any more of her classes.
Palmer is a horrible professor. The lectures consisted of us reading or watching something, then giving our opinion on the reporting. She was allergic to giving her own advice on reporting, and instead opted to say "that's interesting" in response to every comment. Passive Aggressive. Started every lecture with classroom rules like we're 5.
I liked professor palmer. it was an incredibly easy class with easy topics. attendance is mandatory so that sort of sucked but other than that it was a great class. the exams are super easy and there was no final exam.
Not that bad. I just hate her absence system where you have to have a note every time your sick, because that is not that easy if your college student. She doesn't stimulate the class that much- it is just slides and small group discussions. Do not take this class if you want to learn how to do journalism coverage, or sleep in- your grade will drop
The material wasn't difficult to understand and easy to take notes on. You grade your own participation each day and get 1 free absence. There's a lot of readings that you have to post discussions on but it's all pretty relevant. There's one group project at the end of the semester and 2 exams, no final. Definitely would recommend this class!
She is not good at teaching and does not have required skills and knowledge.
Dr. Palmer is pleasant to talk to, and class discussions could become really interesting. My biggest issue with her class was that she required too much writing, and her rubrics were too rigid. My grade kept getting docked because of small details, and it became frustrating. I got an A, but I had to walk through a minefield to get there.
The class material itself is easy and very current. Dr. Palmer uses recent articles about the topics to bring into class lectures and discussions.
Dr. Palmer is an awesome teacher that cares about her students and what we're learning about. Class wouldn't need the lectures but attendance is mandatory and participation is a huge part of grade so can't skip. Really cool material and relevant things we learn and read about, discussions are a bit boring sometimes as are lectures but good overall
Did not encounter this professor once in person or live- she simply posted the lectures from the previous semester and didn't change a single thing. Even the syllabus had the wrong dates that were leftover from the previous semester. Despite her own lack of effort in course material and teaching the students, she was an unreasonably hard grader.
Passive aggressive. She gets upset over small process things and loses track of the main point - if there ever was a main point.
Lindsay is sweet in person, but she is an awful prof. She give us time to discuss, and we literally have to time one another speaking. When our convos run short, she takes away points from in class grade for chatting. I had the worst in class grade in the class for chatting while others sat on phones. I talked the most in large group discussion.
