He is a perfect professor.

Pretty good professor for 345, always was caring and straightforward about his expectations for the class. Teaches in a very different style than the trio/quad of professors, a lot less explanation heavy and more focused on breadth of concepts with specific areas of depth. Also focuses on biochemical relevancy of material to make it applicable.

Overall, a much better chem professor than the other lecturers. No notecards or reaction sheets for exams which meant a lot of memorization but the exams were MUCH easier than the other lecturers and didn't require a lot of explanation for why something was the correct answer. He actually does want students to succeed.

Buller is very open and honest to what he wants from you. His exams are in class which is much appreciated. Doesn't allow any notecards or provide any reaction notes on exams, which kinda sucks so you're going to have to memorize them. Is clear when answering questions. A good lecturer as well.

O chem is hard for most people but I think he did a great job breaking down the material for people to understand. Everyone complains about no notecards on exams, but the questions are easier if you don't have them. Also a very engaging lecturer

He is funny

This professor often got the answer keys wrong, and homework grading was inconsistent. Also, exam answers would contain content not taught in lecture.

nice guy but terrible at teaching

Boy oh boy, where do I even start. This professor yaps about random side information that has no affect on the curriculum. Wastes time not teaching actual class material. Throws hw and exam questions that he hasnt even covered in lecture. I do not recommend. No notecards make the class 20 times harder than it needs to be.

Exams have many trick questions, no notecards, nice guy but terrible at teaching and making clear what needs to be known for exams. Homework sometimes had problems with content not yet learned

This professor was always late to upload answer keys for discussion problem packets, lecture videos, and answer piazza questions. From what I know, he was the only one to not let students have notecards in exams for organic chemistry. Didn't make clear what we need to know for exam. Talked about irrelevant topics (biochem) "for fun" in lecture.

I am currently taking 2nd semester ochem with Professor Buller, and he is incredible! After really struggling with the first ochem (different professor), I was not looking forward to chem 345. Professor Buller is passionate, explains material clearly, is always open to questions, and kind! HIGHLY recommend!

He tries to push you to a corner, to make you believe you are wrong. Then he starts rebuilding you. This course is reading papers and doing assignments, and it's heavy biology. Andrew somehow manages to move the discussion towards his own expertise. It's gonna be boring. Andrew is not unusual bad, just regular uw madison bad chem professor.

Dr. Buller is a great professor to have for 2nd semester ochem. He is passionate, and is super transparent about exams. The only annoying thing was watching pre-recorded lectures before having to attend actual lecture and discussion, but it was helpful to use class time to go over problems. Very approachable and clearly cares.

Awful professor, the exams are based off nothing that he teaches. Have fun studying 50 hours per exam just to have no idea what you're doing.

I did well in first semester ochem. I took this guy, and he does not test on anything he teaches. Each year his exams get harder as I did really well on his old exams he gives. One old exam I got almost everything right and the real exam I got below a 50. I've never spent so much time studying for a class. All for the exams to be impossible.

Literally never had a professor that cared as much about his students as professor Buller. Not only a great professor but a great person as well. Class is hard but you will enjoy it.

Dr. Buller is a new professor and works very hard to be a great one. He takes the time to know the students who come see him in his office and holds multiple schedules office hours in addition to being very available for 1on1 meeting times. Chem 345 is not easy but if you put in the effort Buller really tries to ensure you do the best that you can

Guy is literally so difficult to work with and thinks the best way to assess learning is using completely new examples and then apologizing when no one understands. After a bombed question on one exam he wrote on the key "I feel like most of you knew this..." Okay guy.

I was nervous to take second semester ochem based on how I did first semester, and even more so because Buller is a relatively new professor. However, I have no regrets! He is super clear with his expectations, receptive to feedback, accessible on Piazza and in office hours, and has extremely clear lectures. His TAs Lydia and Daniel are great too.

I was a bit apprehensive taking 345 with a relatively new professor, but Professor Buller greatly exceeded my expectations! He is an excellent instructor and his lectures are easy to understand. He's accessible outside of class, and he is transparent with grading criteria and learning goals--plenty of opportunities to succeed. I'd highly recommend!

Prof. Buller is newer and therefore still kind of deciding how he wants to run the class. He's open to student suggestions on how to improve instruction and is very accessible outside of class. He didn't have a lot of practice problems, but gave us textbook problems that he liked and felt were similar to exam questions.

This was Buller's first year teaching any form of a college class, and I thought he did a great job with it. He is always available for office hours and gives good feedback. This semester he didn't have many practice problems to work on, but this shouldn't be a problem in the future. Also lets you replace an exam grade with final grade. No quizzes
