Interaction of particles with matter; detector techniques at colliding beam machines, in nuclear and particle physics, astrophysics, and cosmology; experimental strategies in detector design; principles of simulation and Monte Carlo methods, error analysis and statistical techniques in data analysis. Knowledge of introductory particle physics (such asPHYSICS 535) strongly encouraged.
