She likes to give 0 on every assignment and will not tell you why and how to revise it.
You will doubt your English skills after taking her class.
The most hard-communicating teacher I ever seen before. Choose another teacher instead of she.
Shauna is a good teacher and a kind person. However, sometimes we struggle to understand what she actually wants in our essays. The comments she leaves on our assignments are often vague; for example, she frequently writes “lack of logical connection” without showing us what a strong logical connection would look like.
Very tough grader. You have to revise your assignments over and over again and might still get a 0. Loves to torturing students. Tons of homework.
It's hard to understand what she want you to do. Don't take her course.
Too many useless things to do and she loves to give a 0. If you don't write a paper that she wants, you will fail on it every time.
She is a tough grader. You have to adjust your work to fit her style to get an A. even if you don't understand her point or don't agree with it. She requires more sources and details than the course demands. She does give second chances and sometimes accepts late homework. Some friends earned A's with less effort from other instructors.
Her classes can be very stressful, and even if you write well, your work will be rejected. There is a problem of bias.
You may spend about 20 hours per day on her class. Too subjective, never considering problems from the students' perspective, not taking students' feelings into account, and having personal biases in grading. Don't take her class at all.
Too much things to do. Being overly subjective, relying solely on one's own understanding to grade, completely disregarding the feelings of classmates, and even being targeted and deliberately given a lower score. It is recommended not to attend her class. Stay away!
Very tough grader. You might spend 20 hours per week on this course and still earn an A-.
Shauna cares a lot about her students and give them the tools for success
the professor is super mean. the worst course i have taken.
She won't teach you to write good essays. If you ask her for help, and the only thing she will tell you is: if you write this sentence we talked in class, you won't jump to 118, I think it's ok, but you have to figure out a better one yourself if you want to jump. MEAN IN GRADING. ESL program is so BAD, I'll fulfill the requirement somewhere else.
lol it's just a pass n fail course why are you guys taking it so seriously.
I took English 100 (it was not an option to submit a rating) with Professor Crowther, and it was amazing! She is willing to meet with students and provide feedback. She is also very understanding of students when issues come up! Professor Crowther does her best to make class fun and not stressful!
Shauna was a fantastic Professor! She is very well rounded and deserves more respect. She was very patient with me through my struggles, and helped me overcome them. 11/10. I would love to have a class with her again.
Very responsible teacher who will carefully help you revise your draft and give you a lot of advice. My writing skills have improved a lot in this class. She also gave many extra credits. Like her very much.
Shauna is the G.O.A.T in ESL!!!
She is impatient when answering questiongs.
She is not a tough grader, but a nonsense grader. Once she asked us to guess how many scores we can get for one assignment, and she did actually give people who guess close the maximum of the assignment, regardless of what they got before. I don't think such a grading standard should appear on a university's class.
Lots of useless homework. Grading is not reasonable.
Really a tough grader and a mean teacher. She even threatened me that I will not pass the class if I still write in my past style. She also used real-life examples and her own experience to contradict my logic fundamentally. However, the comments she gave are really effective and useful comparing to other teachers of ESL 118. She is a good teacher.
Tough grader with overloading homeword. I won't recommend her for everyone.
Shauna is the best! I hated taking ESL 116, ESL 117. I was also super not excited to take 118 online, but she made it so easy. Her grading rubrics are very clear and she is easily accessible! If you can, take ESL with her.
Really nice professor. Very patient and kind. accepts late work. give high grades if you put some time into work.
Super mean. She actually uses no and you will fail the class in comments. She also makes sarcasric sounds sometimes when you ask a question that is really condesending
She's so much fun!! I've hated English class since forever but I actually like the class bcos of her. As long as you do your work and listen to her feedback you should be able to get an A. Work-wise is pretty a lot but I think that's just the nature of ESL. She's really chill but bcos almost every work counts you MUST do your work.
The teacher is not so bad, but she doesn't have a very clear grade standard and most time she just grades students based on her mood. I really hope she can give student a clear standard because without a clear requirement, nobody can get high grades.
Shes awesome! ESL118 is tough course because of all the work, but if you just follow her instructions, youll be fine.
Shauna is an excellent ESL teacher; she is a very typical American and knowledgeable at linguistics and writing. It seems like sometimes she doesn't understand your points in essays, so communication is very important and she's easy to reach; as long as you follow her revision suggestion for final draft of essays, you could get above AB grade.
Shauna can be intimidating at first but that's because she wants you to do your best. She knows when you've put in effort to complete your work and she is kind of a tough grader on that. Nevertheless, if you feel like you have any questions and troubles with class she is more than happy to help you. She gave me a good grade and she helped me a lot.
Tough Grader.
She is so nice
She is a tough grader. she makes us figure out the answers in a group although every group member does not know the answer. If we ask, she says "well, that's your task. You should figure out with your group". A teacher should answer student's question openly if students don't know the answers to their studies. That's what teachers are for.
She gives us so many useful help in ESL 116, she tries her best to survive us in the exam and summary, excellent teacher and I will take her class again!
Too many homework and tough grader.
She's a very nice teacher!
