I just did not enjoy Bret very much. I found him condescending and slightly rude when answering questions. His content was also just not engaging to me. He was just fine as a professor but his content and attitude was just not my favorite.
Bret is an awesome professor! 100% recommend just chatting with him after class/at office hours, he's very helpful and fun and also just a great professor.
Dr. payseur did a great job with the first half of Genetics467. He was clear about what you need to know and was very good at explaining concepts. He provided practice that helped to prepare for exams (that were on canvas, being able to take them anytime that day was very nice). If you take notes and do the practice problems you will do great!
Professor that understands how the whole field works and what actually matters. Acknowledges the history and makes the content interesting. Very approachable as well!
A solid lecturer! His exams were much simpler than those in the second half of the class, and he explains things clearly.
Professor Payseur was a great professor. He really cared about students understanding genetics. Clear expectations about what you need to know, helpful homework, and willing to meet outside of class if you had any questions.
Good lecturer but tends to lean towards academic language in his explanations which can make it difficult to get to the base of what he's saying, at least when discussing probability. Seems to really care for the students, low-stress exams, and is always happy to answer questions.
Had professor Payseur for the first half of genetics 467 and I enjoyed his lectures! (put them on x2 speed because he talked so slow lol). He was organized and the tests were pretty fair. The class itself was a little more difficult than I thought it would be, and since it is not curved I had to work pretty hard to get my desired grade.
Taught in a way to peak our curiosity and encouraged discussion. Tests were low stress.
Super nice guy and definitely cares about genetics, but his questions are very specific on the exams. Make sure you know the trees and the forest!
