I had Tom for a different class and wrote a scathing review. I do not feel the same after this class. This is where he shines. Take him for this class -- he is a BEAST for consulting and is excellent. Funny guy, clearly knows his stuff and will get you there too. This class was great, if the pacing was not a bit weird (not his fault though)

Tom has literally no class plan/structure. He spent whole class periods just going down rabbit holes of news and then telling us we really should know this stuff for our future. It was kind of funny like I have no clue what he thinks we learned? As someone going into consulting with lots of case experience, his "cases" will not help you.

I would only take class with him again because he likes me. That being said, I don't think he understands how to teach. I think that he treats class like we are his employees without an HR department. I had to go to the Dean due to the way he scheduled exams and our finals. If you're not good at sticking up for yourself I wouldn't take.

If you want to get into consulting I would take this class seriously. He teaches the basics of the consulting process and does a lot of real-world examples in class. He will cold call but is only trying to get you comfortable with the uncomfortable. You'll have to do a case in front of the class. Tom knows his stuff and is a great resource and guy.
