Prof Xu does not have particularly interesting lectures, and she does not deliver them with much passion. However, they are very organized, and contain all the info you need to complete the HWs and do well on the exams. The HWs are straightforward, the project was mostly graded on completion, and exams were open note.

Nice professor but boring lectures (just reads off slides mostly). Turned in first homework late because I mixed up the time and she was nice and excused it. Graded project and homework easily, but exams were decently hard. Lots of extra credit if you just go to class.

Avoid if possible. She reads directly off the slides, cannot answer questions or clarify well, and often tests you on foreign things you have never seen or practiced, including questions with terminology you've never covered. Some exams were super easy, and others were impossible. Honestly hard to prepare for. Would never recommend to anyone.

I really enjoyed ISYE 412 with Tina. Her grading is clear, and the exams are exactly what she outlines they will be. While lectures can be dull and include unnecessary information, Tina is both intelligent and likeable. This course is a very easy A if you actually study for the exams and spend a little bit of time on the HW.

Her lectures are boring and tough to sit through, but the class wasn't that hard. Homework was similar to the problems in class, she offered up to 3% extra credit for going to lecture, and the group project was relatively easy. There was a lack of guidance on preparing for the exams and the group project as the expectations weren't always clear.

Professor Xu is a very nice person. She does example problems in every lecture to illustrate the concepts. You will have a weekly HW, about 4 to 5 questions that perfectly cover the lecture material. In addition, she offers a 3% extra credit onto your overall grade. If you attend lectures regularly and do the HW, this class is an easy A for you.

I had Prof Xu for 312 and 412. Tina is so sweet, and from my limited interactions with her seems to be a great person. With that said, her lectures are beyond boring and while she does do several in-class examples, which are beneficial, her handwriting is very difficult to read, causing these examples to often be difficult to understand.

The worst prof. I have had at this school. Avoid at all costs.

I've had Tina Xu for 312, 313, and 512. Every single class is exactly the same: reading boring slides in a monotone voice. The slides are never organized, and are rarely helpful if you miss something in class. She does not enjoy teaching, and it shows in her lack of energy each and every lecture. Luckily, exams and homework are not too hard.

Took for 312, and 412. The content in these classes is quite dry, but it makes it harder that the slides are basically a wall of text and she reads off them (like in the other review). Not interesting as no real-life examples are explained well or even differently when someone asks for clarification. Memorizing the stuff may help for the test

Took her for 412 and 512. She just reads slides (which are terrible). She does handwritten examples in class - these are pretty useless since her handwriting is not legible. She doesn't seek to understand when you are confused - instead, she seems irritated or answers your questions before you are done explaining your confusion/questions.

The class and professor Xu are both super boring, the hardest part of the course is finding motivation for such a boring subject. The slides are posted online and are pretty helpful for the homework.
