His lectures are very engaging and he takes breaks to answer questions and make sure everyone is understanding the material. He explains things simply yet thoroughly
UW-Madison should take pride in having this talented young mathematician. He is, without a doubt, the best instructor I've had so far. You'll enjoy every moment of his class! I had the pleasure of taking topology with him, and it was an incredible experience. Truly outstanding! Thank you, Mr. Yahl, for your dedication and support.
He was perfect
Thomas Yahl. The Lebron James of math professors. GOAT.
My personal GOAT of Fall 2024. It's Calculus 2 so it's going to be hard but there's no one else I'd like to take the class with. His lectures are surprisingly engaging, and he explains concepts well with multiple examples. Tests are fair and similar enough to the study guide but are not curved. The TA's are quick to respond to questions on Piazza.
I took MATH 213 with Professor Yahl. He is hands down the best math professor I have ever had. The lectures are recorded, notes provided, and plenty of study materials for exams. The exams were tough, but very fair. So far it looks like there is no curve, which I think is odd, but I can't recommend him enough.
I took MATH 213 with him and he is an amazing professor who cares about his students. He actively wants you to understand the material and helps as much as he can make tests easier for you. Genuinely a really great professor I would take again!
Professor Yahl was hands down the best lecturer I have had at UW-Madison. His lectures are fun, understandable, and not content heavy. He did an excellent job conveying the course's content in an easy to understand manner, and left out all the unnecessary bits. All in all, amazing instructor.
Dr Yahl isn't only a phenomenal professor, but a very genuine person. He immediately built a rapport with the class which allowed him to not only teach the content in a clear, fun way, but also made approaching and conversing with him an absolute pleasure. He is the best professor I have had, and I hope to take more of his classes in the future!
Dr. Yahl was probably my favorite professor I have had. He makes the material extremely easy to understand and doesn't try to incorporate topics that are unnecessary to the class. Additionally, if there was a problem that I didn't know how to do, he would always be able to explain it easily. Definitely recommend Dr. Yahl and his "magic trick!"
he is very good at explaining things and is a very nice guy. Would definitely recommend for math 320
He does a very good job of telling you what you need to memorize and what is a "magic trick". Concepts are explained very clearly and there are examples in lecture.
