Great! Terry was super nice, knew how to answer questions well, and his exams were extremely fair - you have a lot of practice on the exact stuff which will show up on an exam and he doesn't test you on anything you didn't explicitly cover. The homework assigned and project requirements are very extensive and time consuming, so prepare for that.
He has a super strict attendance policy (no excused absences) which is stressful, leads to people coming in sick, etc. However, the man knows what he's talking about, loves to answer questions, etc. Assignment details were confusing/difficult to find but he was always happy to clarify.
Just don't take it
Overall, Terry is a good professor. His lectures are pretty dull but that's primarily thanks to the content of 315. The project for the class is extremely time-consuming and very little guidance is given so be prepared to go to office hours. Not my favorite class, but as a consultant Terry did add some interesting perspective.
Terry is one of the best profs I've had at UW. He's a part time professor and also a consultant, so he has awesome real world examples. He gives tons of extra credit, so take advantage. There's a lot of info in the class but if you just read the lecture slides and go to discussion you'll do well. Discussion was huge for application of formulas
Great professor that genuinely cares about his students and what he lectures on. Offers 4% in extra credit, which is not even necessary since the class is already pretty easy. The semester project is time consuming so start early. I ended with a 101% in the class.
Professor Mann is an all around great professor. He includes actual real world examples in his lectures, and is more than willing to discuss them after. While he isn't on campus often, when he is, it is worth seeing him. Overall, he is a good lecturer who is a fair professor.
Favorite professor I've had here at UW-Madison so far. Had him for both 313 and 315. Project for 315 is a lot of work. Terry is the best. He actually keeps me engaged during the entire power lecture which is something that can not be said about most professors.
Had Terry for 313 and 315 and will be trying to take more of his classes in my last 2 years. He really cares about his students and he knows a lot of material is dry (especialy in 313). He really wants you to succeed. Lectures for 313 are pretty useless and you can just do the hw and cram for tests. Would highly recommend attending 315 lecture.
Had Terry for both 313 and 315 and really enjoyed him as a professor. You can tell he is really cares about students and doesn't just teach you to pass a test. Definitely recommend taking classes with him.
Overall solid professor. The lectures were very dry, but structured logically and well explained. His exams are very easy and the course load is minimal. Fair grader and very approachable. Nothing to complain about, really.
Lectures drag on, material is kind of dry, but definitely useful in the real world. Tests are straightforward and fairly easy. Semester long project is very time consuming so start early and don't put it off! TA was great and discussion was extremely helpful preparing for exams.
Really a great class, with a really great professor. Lectures were not manditory and grading was super easy. The average on the first midterm was a 94...
Taken numerous Classes with T Mann, 313, 315, 575. He is my favorite teacher I've ever had. Looking forward to taking 520 with him.
Extremely nice professor to talk to and understanding. The class was extremely dry. Projects given had vague instructions so I recommend talking to him if you have any questions. Exams were sometimes extremely easy and sometimes extremely hard.
Excellent professor. Super chill, relaxed and approachable. Has a very conversationalist, friendly tone and is always willing to help. Pay attention to the things he stresses in lectures and you'll do well on tests, the class is fairly easy. Project is very time consuming, so start early and keep working at it.
Good guy, works hard to get the class to understand. Very approachable and seems to like helping you out with questions. He has more experience than most professors and it shows.
The subject as such is supposed to be easy but this guy makes it as hard as possible,I took this class as an ME student and there hasn't been a single day i haven't regretted ! Lousy professor
He knows what he is talking about and he is very willing to help. The project is tedious, but not bad if you start it fairly early.
