It is clear Professor Rogers knows his stuff, he is not accessible outside class and has an interesting lecture style but incredibly intelligent! The tests are HARD and I studied a lot. A lot of this information was very abstract to me and difficult to understand but after putting in a lot of work I was able to pull off an A.
Never answered emails on time, super unaccommodating, the tests were hard for no reason (did at least 20-30 hours of studying for each exam), would never take this class again.
Nice professor, but didn't teach the class well
Does not respond to emails at all, very hard to reach. Exams were difficult for no reason, Prof Rogers would post lectures very late but the lectures are presented very well.
Professor Rogers was absolutely terrible. The material was well presented, but he's impossible to reach outside of class and almost never responded to any of my emails. Exams were okay, with the exception of one nearly impossible one (studied close to 30 hours and got a C). The amount of work required to get a decent grade is not worth the stress.
Prof. Rogers did a great job making/presenting the lecture slides and videos--they were always very engaging. However sometimes the lectures would be posted late, and the quizzes were disorganized. The tests were fair, and you can drop your lowest score. Overall a solid prof and just needs to fix some of those bumps!
Prof Rogers hardly ever answered emails and usually had to go through the TA to get him to respond. The exams were unnecessarily difficult, lectures/readings were never posted on time, the lectures moved extremely fast. This may be because of the online format, but this class was not worth the stress over lack of communication and organization.
I don't know if this was a result of online classes, but Professor Rogers was terrible at communication and wouldn't even answer his emails most days. The material is incredibly demanding and although it is taught well, the tests are incredibly difficult. Wouldn't have been a terrible class if Professor Rogers could actually communicate...
Professor Rogers' online lectures are unbelievably good and he obviously puts a TON of time into making them. It almost feels like I'm watching a professionally made Youtube video that is engaging and understandable. The exams are difficult, but definitely fair. You get to drop your worst exam. Best psych class I've taken so far at UW.
Rogers is really nice and very approachable. I would recommend him as a professor.
Prof. Rogers has been one of my favorite professors at UW! He is honestly the most dad-like professor I've ever had. You can also tell that he really wants his students to succeed. He posts reading guides that tell you what parts of the book to read before exams so don't worry about reading too much before the reading guide is out.
Although the class was very interesting and Prof Rogers is amazing, exams were difficult. He cares a lot about the material but often does not finish lectures and based a lot of exam questions on textbook material. Grades are entered very late into canvas
Prof Rogers is the best teacher I've had at UW. He is very passionate about the course and always takes time to help students with any questions or confusion. He's very approachable and talks through things clearly. The tests are somewhat difficult but doable.
Psych414 is an easy class if you have prior experience with perception/memory/learning experiments and models. However, it will be difficult as the material is abstract if you are learning it for the first time. Prof Rogers does his best for the course, but is not always punctual or 100% timely.
Rogers' passion is very prevalent in his lectures. He genuinely cares about the topic & students' understanding of materials, although concepts are abstract/difficult to grasp. Very clear examples, lots of in class demos of material. Lecture slides posted on Learn@UW, but going to class is vital to understanding the material. Best psych prof yet!
I loved him! The material was clear. Dr. Rogers is concerned with how his students do and if he has made his lecture clear. His tests are clear and well worded. He is a fair grader, if you attend lecture and pay attention you will pass. He also tries to include current studies and research to help you apply knowledge to the real world.
lectures are fairly interesting; good content. slides are available online but not all that helpful without attending lectures. Exams are super hard, need to memorize every tiny bit of the slides. Book is useless, only relevant if you're curious. No extra credit. 2/3 exams count. Paper is long, start early.
Hard to give Prof. Rogers this low of a score but this class can be frustrating. He is a pretty good lecturer and shows lots of interest in the material, but the class is very dry and can be tough to have almost half of the exams based on readings never covered in lecture. Exams are tough, being solely multiple choice.
The material is dry and boring. Lots of theories to learn. Forty pecent of exams are from the book, so reading is a must. He's hard to reach if you don't go into office hours, and he doesn't reply to emails well. Overall, I would not take this class again.
Generally a great course. The structure of the lecture and the textbook need some improvement. Prof. Rogers is not clear at explaining a certain points but if you can raise your specific question he can provide satisfying answer. Exams are quite detailed and not at all easy. But discussion attendance, assignments and final paper are easy points.
Wow! One of the best professors I've had so far! He really got into the material and taught me so much. Took this as a freshman and this was a challenging class but I love neuroscience so this was perfect. I am going to miss Prof. Rogers!
Involves a lot of reading & knowledge of experiments to back up theories - that can be somewhat overwhelming. He will occasionally use terms from other texts & it gets confusing trying to match it up with the assigned readings. But he will always reiterate anything that is confusing, so just ask. Grade includes quizzes & labs, not just exams.
This class is incredibly boring. And you must read the textbook and take good notes. Exams are pretty easy, but the material is so dry pretty sure I didn't learn a thing.
This class was very interesting and Tim tried to make the info understandable in class. The post-class quizzes were a little annoying but were easy to do. The hardest part of this class is keeping up with all of the readings he assigns. The exams were not too hard as long as you are familiar with the theories and main experiments.
He's so easy if you try. The best :)
His class on concepts/categorization wasn't easy at all, but it should have been a lot harder than it was, as the material is among the most dense and complicated i've ever studied. He knows the subject matter well, and the format is more like a philosophy course: The grade is leading 2 discussions, 2 take home exams, and a final paper.
he's nice and lectures're interesting. but for some reason, he seems to be emailphobic- he always tells students to send an email to T.A, who's very nice. It's not an easy A class but an easy B class. HW takes less than 30mints for each.
Proffessor rogers is a great guy and is very approachable to talk to. He doesn't cover some parts of the book in lecture, and you will find that on the test, so be careful of that. Material is pretty manageable and he makes the test clear, but appropriatly challenging. A good proffessor to have
This professor has been one of my best so far. He made the subject incredibly interesting with lots of vivid examples and personal experiences. He knows the subject very well, but never assumes that you have prior knowledge. If you have any interest in brain function, learning, language, or just want a good professor, I highly recommend this class.
Tim is a great new prof who just had his 1st kid right befoe finals. Out of all my psych professors, he has been one of the best. I had almost no interest in cognitive psych and he still managed to make the class interesting. What I liked most about him is that his tests were clear, straight forward and well-done. Just a good professor.
