Toughest class in my life back in 2006. Now, 11 years later, the lessons I got from Tom's class are virtually the only ones that stuck from my time in college. I had some extenuating circumstances that Tom very graciously, patiently worked with me on. He clearly cared. But he did not cut me one ounce of slack - to my great benefit.Rate My Professors ↗
While this class was the hardest of my undergraduate career, it was also the best class. He really wants students to struggle with the material and come to understand it on their own. He is with you every step of the way, but he won't just hand out answers. If you give this class your all, you will leave with much more than a good grade.Rate My Professors ↗
421 is a lot of work, don't get me wrong. But if you want to be challenged and actually learn something with a practical application then take this class. Tom can be intimidating at first, but he will take the time to help students. Most worthwhile class I have ever taken.Rate My Professors ↗
Great professor. Really invested in the class and motivated to help students how to think for themselves. Not willing to give up a straight answer to questions, but instead challenges students to think critically. I loved his attitude about the class although it was frustrating at times.
