Stacy was very engaged with her students and knew exactly what she was talking about. LOTS of work, but everything was laid out very clearly which made it more manageable.
Stacy was a great professor in J202, especially as it was my first time taking a class in the Journalism School. She is a tough grader but gives good feedback and is really easy to reach out to. Go to her office hours because she will remember you and is a great professor to make a connection with.
Highly recommend Stacy for J202! I honestly learned so much in this class and although it was hard and often overwhelming, it is super rewarding in the end. Stacy was organized and concise throughout the semester which made the workload feel more manageable.
They aren't lying when they say Curb is a lot of work. Like a LOT. It's exhausting but so fun and rewarding. This class is very demanding but you can trust that you will be surrounded with some of the most hardworking and talented peers you'll ever meet in the J-School. This is a MUST-take class and Stacy is there to help the whole way.
Stacy ROCKS! Yes, J202 is hard and scary, but Stacy is so kind and always gives clear feedback about your writing. The snacks she brings to lecture make up for the weekly quiz. The commitment is a lot but you learn so much in 202 and it's one of the best experiences you'll ever have in the J-school, especially if Stacy is teaching it.
Stacy was a great professor in terms of teaching Curb. This class is extremely rigorous, so be prepared to NOT mess around! Stacy has very strict deadlines and will remove points from your final grade if you do not contribute to the class and/or miss deadlines. She is a great mentor and leader, and I highly recommend taking a class with her!
J202 is a 6-credit class with lots of assignments throughout the semester, but Stacy remained professional and organized in and out of the classroom, which made the workload a lot easier than it looks. She is really approachable. The class will teach you lots of applicable and practical skills like audio editing.
Stacy was an incredible professor who is so knowledgeable and passionate about journalism. She truly is there to help and wants all of her students to succeed in her courses. She always got back to emails very quickly and was so caring about her students well being outside of class. She knows what being a college student is like and it shows.
Stacy was great for J202. Its a pretty big class so never really interacted with her during class, but she was always available by email or office hours. J202 itself is a really time consuming class so be ready to work, but Stay was super knowledgable about the information. She recognizes being a college student is tough and was very considerate.
Stacy was a really great, really caring professor who was passionate about what she was teaching. She has lots of experience in the field of journalism and is really knowledgable. J202 was a very time consuming class, but Stacy made it fun and really wanted students to succeed and understand. Will be taking another one of her classes.
Stacy is an awesome prof. Class was difficult but well organized and easy to understand. Writing feedback is fair and honest and encourages a lot of improvement and growth.
Hands down the best professor I've ever had at UW-Madison. I've taken J202 and J345 with her and both classes were great. Stacy is caring, understanding, accommodating, and listen to her students. On top of that, she gives good feedback, has interesting lectures, and is a great teacher. You want to be in Stacy's sections for J202 and J345.
Stacy is awesome. I was lucky enough to have her for both J202 and J345. I learned so much, and I really appreciate her kindness. She sees her students as whole people with lives and treats them as such. I am going to take any and every class possible with her!
Stacy is so far the best professor I had. She cares a lot about her students, and makes sure we are treated fairly. There's a lot of work in this class, but it's all useful (i.e. no busy work). We stan a journalism LEGEND!
Stacy is the best professor I've ever had. She clearly cares a lot about her students. extra credit is offered and the class isn't overly difficult, but there's a lot of work.
Stacy is THE BEST. I had her for J202 and J345 and she is my favorite professor I've ever had. She is the nicest, most down-to-earth lady and she works so hard to make sure every student feels supported. Her office hours are always incredibly helpful too and she gives great advice if you actually make the time to go. Cannot say enough about her!
Didn't see any reviews for Curb (J417) on here, so I figured I'd write one. Stacy is the most amazing human I've ever met. She cares so much about her students and really works to make sure that their work is the best it can possibly be. I would definitely recommend Stacy/this class to anyone looking to grow their journalism/strat comm portfolio!
Stacy is a great professor who is always super happy to help and available outside of class. She makes a hard class a lot easier to manage and always provides helpful feedback during her office hours. If you can, definitely take the class with her.
Stacy was so sweet. Lectures can be dry, but that's mostly because of the material. She brings you cookies and donuts and is totally understandable about expectations and what it is like being a student. If you can take a class with her go for it. She has some wisdom to share.
Stacy is great! She is super nice and genuinely cares how her students do in the class. I really enjoy the class structure (just pray you end up with a good group!), as it emphasizes more projects than exams. Stacy is very open to meeting with students outside of class and, overall, I would definitely take a class with her in the future!
Great instructor. Very available outside of class. Gives concrete and good feedback. You can tell she really cares about her students. However, readings don't help a ton, tests can be deceptively hard and group work isn't always the most fun. With that being said, if you want to get some good work in your portfolio (especially if creative), good.
Stacy is great
I love Stacy! She's super sweet and will go out of her way to help you out. The class itself is hard but Stacy is a great resource to help you out.
Stacy is awesome. She is in touch with her students, always there to help and overall is extremely organized. I have had her for both J202 and J345 and loved her for both! My schedule didn't align to take a class with her next semester, but I would have chosen one of her classes simply to have her as a professor again!
This class is tough but so rewarding in the end. Quizzes every week in lecture.
If you are willing to work hard, take this class. While it is a lot of work, it is not busy work. Stacy creates her own "newsroom" and goes above and beyond to provide students with the information and tools they need to succeed. Through the experience, it is hard not to see your reporting skills improve exponentially.
Stacy was great! I had her for both J202 and J345 and really liked her. She is super sweet and knows what she's talking about. She also is extremely helpful and understanding and I felt like I could go to her for help about anything. I definitely recommend her!
Stacy is a great professor. I had her for J202 and chose her for J345 since I enjoyed her so much. She's very helpful and responsive to students, she makes class interactive and interesting. I know I could go to her for help with anything I needed. Highly recommend her and her class!
Stacy is really nice and willing to help you. That being said,I found her lectures quite boring since she read off a podium like a speech and wasn't very engaging. The only reason I went to lecture was to take the graded quiz, otherwise her input added very little to J202. My TA was who I went to when I needed help.
Stacy is great! She's nice and encouraging and wants to see you do well. Tests are easy if you prepare for them. Show up to all the mandatory meetings and be a willing part of your group and you'll get an A.
