Prof. Schroeder is SO SO nice and personable, she always says hi to me when I see her in the hall. Super open to discussion and answering questions people have. I took this class as part of the FIG, we discussed LONG readings which were not explained as well as they could be. Lots of research for papers too.
She's very sweet, however her lectures are exceedingly dull. An easy A.
Professor Schroeder is kind and attentive to students' needs. She's willing to grant extensions on the papers assigned. Our class also had some impromptu field trips, which was a nice experience. However, she assigns many journal articles as readings, which can be difficult for freshmen.
Hard to distinguish in lecture on what is relevant for what you will be tested on and what is just material she is passionate on. Hard to miss her lectures as they are mostly all pictures.
Professor Schroeder is great. She cares for her students and genuinely respects them and their time. Class is pretty essay and test heavy, with almost no other assignments, however (at least for this specific class), they are graded pretty lightly.
Professor Schroeder is super cool and awesome. Sure she's an authority and very experienced, but have you considered the most important thing about her and her classes? Her outfits.
Prof. Schroeder cares deeply about the subject, we've had field trips/guest lectures for fun. She's nice, but for an entry-level class doesn't give much guidance on writing our papers. Readings are difficult! Students read and discuss 2 long articles for each class. Good class if you're into eco/anthro and can skim readings- but not an easy credit.
This was such a fun class! I took it for the certificate, and I learned all of the basics over a semester. We had interactive discussions with artifacts and tool-making, as well as engaging lectures. There are three exams and three "papers", all of which are graded lightly (as long as you do the work and prove it, you'll get 100%). Very fun class!
As long as you take notes in class, the course is pretty easy. Unless you truly dislike humanities than you will probably find lectures to be interesting. Assignments may take time but are fairly easy, and tests are easy as long as you've paid attention in lecture. Slides are fairly minimal so be sure to take note of key things she says in lecture.
Prof. Schroeder provided a "note sheet" of sorts to go with her online lectures and that really helped when it came to exam time. She was organized and easy to follow for the most part. She covers semi-boring material but still makes it engaging.
She was 1 of 5 lecturers and was fairly decent. Her content wasn't as interesting, and it was easy to get bored. However, she knew what she was talking about, and she gave everything you needed to know on her lecture slides. There were lots of readings, but I never read any of them; I just took notes on every lecture slide and still did well!
Very interesting class taught by a great professor; highly recommend!
Entire course grade is dependent on 3 exams and 3 assignments. The course is not curved and the exams are difficult and essay-heavy. The time limit provided is not nearly enough to finish everything the different professors ask of you. She is an average lecturer but overall boring course. Lectures are posted online so attendance isn't mandatory.
Prof. Schroeder was alright. Watched a video in her first lecture which felt a little underwhelming, but was simple enough. She has a fairly monotonous information base in 102 and does a good job getting through it. Her voice is soft and lectures are long, so be careful not to doze off.
Was 1/5 professors for Anthro 102. Very good lectures - I learned a lot! Definitely attend her lectures though, as there is not a lot on her slides. Still, being in class it is a good balance - you can write what she says which is important, and the powerpoints are just supplementary. Very calming voice so get some sleep the night before.
Professor Schroeder is absolutely wonderful! She cares about the well-being and well-roundedness of her students and is readily available in office hours. Her tests can be difficult, but her papers are easier because she offers clear rubrics to follow. I thoroughly enjoyed taking her class.
Be careful with her archaeology course. She curves the class down (I got a 92% and ended with a B) she only gives out a small portion of A's!
Lectures were very dry, and the way she presented material was not entirely exciting either. Not a terrible class though.
Good stuff!
Way more unorganized and more difficult than the other 3 professors but loves what she teaches
Extremely boring class and she always remind you that she is boring and that the material is boring. Couple with pretty uncompelling busy work, she made this ethnic studies credit a huge pain in the tookas
Uuuuuuuuuuuuuugh, I hated this class. So, so, so dry. I felt like every lecture was exactly the same as the last. Sissel was awkward and the grading was all over he place. A lot of work compared to the other Antho 112 professors. The TAs were pretty good, though.
I had her for anthro 102. Unlike the other 3 professors for the semester, she did not have clear-cut/well-organized notes. However, she didn't cover many topics which made for a relatively easy test.
Its not her fault she teaches a class that would be boring to a rock.
Material was pretty basic, but she presented it in an interesting way. Tests were clearly written and fair. Assignments were graded fairly. Going to lecture is a good idea because sometimes tests include examples mentioned in lecture but not in the textbook.
Found her to be a bit boring, but she was extremely nice and helpful, and was pretty clear. Exams tested the key points and you'll know exactly what to study. I thought the class was mostly common sense and I don't feel like I learned anything, really, but as a prereq for anthro courses it was bearable.
She is a great lecturer. She clearly presents lecture material and makes it easy to keep-up. She also uses the book a lot, but does not discuss any of its materials in lecture. On her exams she does not include minute, unimportant material, but still makes it challenging with a wide variety of questions and concepts. Overall, great professor!!!
Loves talking about Native Americans - it was weird that we didn't discuss hardly anything other than North America in an intro archaeology course. Tests were easy if you went to lecture. Assignments were doable and graded fairly.
Really likes her subject. The text book helps out if you missed lecture, but she doesn't teach directly from it. Projects/homework relatively easy to **** last minute.
Ok professor, not always clear on the information. Test was a bit ambiguous.
Had powerpoint outlines online, but class attendance is mandatory if you're going to do well... gives hints on what the exam will cover, tests on the 'big ideas' she's discussed several times. Approachable, friendly, and passionate about archaeology- good prof!
Good teacher, good methods of presentation (w/ ppt). She really knows her stuff and communicates her knowledge effectively. Shows interest in students achieving acceptable grades. Sometimes class gets tortuous and tiresome, but there is always alot to learn in class. She gives huge hints about what she might put on exams!!!

I don't see why other posters consider her easy. Upper-division courses are definitely aimed at anth majors/grad students w/ arc focus; most comprehensive and in-depth course possible for this material. I find her a little intimidating, but knows discipline inside and out.
Terrible professor. Couldn't stay awake at all durring any of her lectures. We got a new professor in the middle of class and trust me, this material CAN be interesting, but not when she is teaching. Some of the assignments were the worst organized things I have ever done. Bad TAs and discussion. ABSOLUTELY WORTHLESS!
Her lectures got a little boring at times, but she is very enthusiastic about archaeology. She uses powerpoint, and the tests are very easy - just review your notes a little. And there isn't much reading. Overall it was an enjoyable class.
