Dr. Tan was the main lecturer but there were A LOT of guest lectures. This class is a power lecture and got boring quick. Exams were very easy and informal. The second exam is a take home exam. Mini modules were very simple and you don't have to do the pre-class readings to do well. Note taking during lecture is crucial to study for exams.

She was literally never there- you wouldn't even know she was your professor. Its always guest speakers and it is SO content heavy. I'm not a STEM major and got an A but I will say I was a little stressed at times. The tests are super specific questions and hard to study for- but, they aren't cumulative and the quizzes are super easy. NOT A SCIENCE

Dr. Tanumihardjo's lectures were information heavy and hard to follow. Most of the time we'd have guest speakers and barely hear from her. The class itself was interesting, but it felt very disorganized.

Lectures are super dry if you don't have a deep passion for the subject. Lectures are also primarily given by guest lecturers making it difficult to understand what learning objectives were being addressed. However, exams were pretty easy, and there was a study guide given for each exam. Only recommended if you are required to take this class.

Class is really just lacking in interesting content in some sections

She's a fine professor, but was rarely around during class. With 3 professors, you would think you could get into contact with one of them, but it was near impossible. The class itself is easy if you keep up with lectures. I found the nutrition part of it boring and overcomplicated, but once we got into different material it was fine.

I took Professor Tanumihardjo's course over the summer and I found it to be very easy and straightforward. There was lots of lecture material with a quiz each week.

Dr. Tan was very passionate about her research and the class itself is easy, it just covers a lot of ground in a very short time. If you like nutrition, you'll be fine. Lectures aren't mandatory but if you don't go you'll have a whole lot of ground to cover on your own. The professors weren't very accessible, almost everything wen through the TAs.

She is very caring deep down and wants students to understand nutrition. She loves teaching!

She almost never lectured it was usually guests. Easy if you use study packs for notes as long as you do the work you should get an A.

As a global health major, this professor was underwhelming. Her lectures weren't very engaging, but even so, I would recommend the class. Fairly easy A, but don't expect a great lecturer. Topics and information covered are interesting, but there are absolutely better global health classes with more engaging and inspiring professors at Madison.

Dr. Tan was a pretty mediocre professor, assigned some really unnecessary readings but things definitely could have been a lot worse. I don't really have much of an opinion on her, not the hugest fan but I also am not regretful I took her class. It was a little boring at times but very easy. Guest lecturers are really hit or miss

She has a lot of knowledge about the field and a lot of research experience but this does not translate to her ability to teach the course. The course is almost entirely made up of guest lectures and she does a very poor job of communicating with students about concerns. Will intentionally ignore and not respond to piazza posts.

Dr. Tan is a serious professor with a lot of stories to share, and this class was fairly engaging. I strongly recommend taking notes on a device for this class as the predetermined note templates for each class make it very easy to study. Tests were very fair and contained little information from the readings - mostly from (guest) lectures.

She is very nice and clearly cares about her students. The class is very unorganized and she barely has lectures. It is mostly guest lecturers the entire semester. The exams are pretty hard and the questions are VERY specific. Emailed the TA on what to study and he was NO HELP. Would not recommend it.

Class itself is not hard, but not a huge fan of Professor Tan herself. She and the TAs could be condescending at times, with lots of guests lecturers. Some of them were very boring, but some were fantastic and the only thing keeping me interested in the class. Very easy overall though

Rarely shows up to the lectures and for the final exam has another professor and the TA write/be in charge of the last third of the semester. Not a very good prof. That being said, I did really enjoy a lot of the guest lecturers. Also very easy, hardly any homework, 2 exams and a final (1 exam is take home).

saddle up and be prepared to live love breath vitamin A facts

Sherry only lectured 3-4 times throughout the semester; there were many guest lecturers. Sherry, herself, is very fast when she lectures. The class is very easy. Pay attention in lecture and you will do fine. Readings are "mandatory", but nobody I know did them and we were fine. Attendance taken at random during the semester so you should go.

This course is very easy, you don't really need to take notes on the study packets they provide because Sherry will post the slides a few days before the exam. If you look over those and go to the lectures you'll be fine. There's no work outside of class for the class so it's easy. Sherry was okay, not very present throughout the semester

This class has an insane grade distribution due to the fact that exams are multiple choice and questions are based straight off lecture info. I found this class very inspiring and enjoyed the wide variety of guest lecturers. Dr. Tan also gives a good number of lectures and was always easily reachable outside of class. Totally recommend this class!

This class was mainly guest lecturers. Each lecture is very disorganized and the study packs are hard to follow. Exams are very easy though and the TA posts the study packs and a study guide for exams(which is pretty much straight from the exam). Attendance is worth 20 points and taken randomly. The assignments are very easy points

Most lectures are taught by guest lecturers who are far superior to Prof Tan (thankfully). I was very excited for this class and left disappointed. It's disorganized, you can never copy down all the notes in time, and the attendance policy is ridiculous. She posts lecture slides 3 days before tests. Attendance taken 5 times randomly.

Professor Tan stresses the important information for the exams in lecture. She provides study packs for lectures but goes too fast to fill in the blanks. She does not make the lecture slides available until a few days before the exam, which just promotes cramming/memorizing rather than learning. The class is easy and covers important to topics.

Sherry is an amazing teacher and an even better person! She is knowledgable, kind, and truly wants her students to succeed. She is receptive to suggestions about her course and knows her stuff!

I enjoy Doctor Tan as a person and also this class. Attendance wasn't always needed because lectures were posted online. One can definitely get an A if they review lectures and study a day for each exam. Although Doctor Tan was not around often, she really wants her students to succeed and get A's which shows she cares and is genuine.

Sherry seems to know what she's talking about, but the lectures for this class seem very unorganized. We jump from back-and-forth between topics frequently. There are 3 papers that were sort of handed out last minute with little to go on. Exams were fair. Bi-weekly quizzes were difficult. I attended lectures and still did mediocre at best on them.

The class was great overall. There was a lot of guest lecturers which made it difficult to be consistent with overall content, but it was all interesting.

Horrible lecturer. She loves to talk about herself and shares too much personal information that is irrelevant to the class. There are a lot of guest lecturers though, most of which are really good. Outside of Sherry, this class is great and very interesting

Prof Tan is possible the most conceited professor I've ever had. On the few occasions that she does lecture, she shares irrelevant information about her personal life in attempt to show off, but ends up sounding stuck-up. Her lectures are easy but fairly dry. Great class, but Prof Tan is not the best. Would still recommend taking this class.

Obsessed with herself and her work. Her lectures were uninteresting and uninformative. A very terrible professor.

Course wasn't exactly difficult, but she never seemed to have a clear focus with lectures and tangible, concrete concepts to study in preparation for exams - just lots of personal stories and complaints. A lot of info she presented was too general (e.g: "malnutrition is a problem") with no mechanisms or logical flow within even a single lecture.

Professor Tanumihardjo seemed to be self-centered and full of herself. Her lectures were filled with questionably relevant mentions of her research, travels, people she has met, details of her family, and her accomplishments. I wish the lectures had been more substance driven and less autobiographical. I did appreciate her passion for the subject.

Sherry cares a lot about her topics and this is a super interesting class. However, she seems to like herself a lot and can seem a little arrogant at times. That's not a reason to not take this class though. I love NutriSci 375. Lectures are interesting, exams aren't too hard. Love it!

Teacher is nice and kind. Easy class with alternating teachers. takehome exam for 2nd test and u need book for it cause ?s are straight from the book. final was tough but first exam was easy. 60% of class got As. enjoyable intro to global health. attendance not mandatory. easy workload. it was a new class this past semester. take it for fun!!
