Dr.Moore's lectures are long and may meander at times, but she is genuinely interested in the subject. Make sure to take notes to use as evidence during final projects. Answer questions during lecture and do most of the readings, it's not hard. If you aren't prepared to encounter ideas about race/class then maybe don't take an ethnic studies class!

This class may be the best example of the lack of freedom of speech at UW-Madison. Dr. Moore gave blatant opinions about specific politicians and the parties they represent, without allowing any student discussion on the subjects. This class would be more accurately named "The Problems of White People, Men, Capitalism and Conservatives".

Professor Moore was fine. The lectures were boring, and the homework was reading-heavy. However, the class is pretty straightforward and not difficult. My biggest complaint is that she is nearly impossible to communicate with. She takes days to respond to simple questions if she does at all.

The professor is a great person outside of this class. I can tell she cares about the world and city. Unfortunately, her teaching is really hard to get excited about. I'm fine reading and doing the quizzes, but when you sit for 75 minutes and talk about one slide for 20 minutes, it's hard to care.

Not the sort of Professor who inspires you to have a passion for the topic. For me, going to lecture was more of a burden than it is in any way fun or educational. A lot of the course is just AP Human Geog. with extra steps, but a significant portion is more History of Racism than Urban Geography (it is an Ethnic Studies course after all).

The class was very consistent and I knew what was expected of me at all times to get a good grade in the class. Prof Moore's lectures are super info heavy and get a little overwhelming sometimes, but the TA's for this class were amazing. Good class for an ethnic studies credit.

Truly that class that inspired me to get a rate-my-prof account. Lecture slides are horrible and have too much information written on them in a hard-to-read font. Prof's lectures didn't actually align with the words on slides. Grammar mistakes on slides. Readings and lectures did not line up. Most boring lecture I have ever attended.

This class was advertised as a geog class as well as an ethnic studies class, but it only focused on the ethnic bits. If you're looking for something that introduces you to Urban Planning, this is not for you. Don't make the mistake I did. That being said Prof Moore and the TAs are incredibly nice and helpful if you have interest in the material.

GEO305 with professor Moore was not difficult, although I would not recommend taking this course. Professor Moore's lectures were mind-numbingly boring, and the answer to everything in the class was racism/discrimination. Although this semester was conducted entirely online, I've had other professors who were far more engaging and interesting.

I wouldn't recommend this class or this professor. There's a ton of reading every week, along with a quiz. There are two main papers, along with two exams. The instructions and essay questions are so confusing. She also seems so bored with this class herself. If you want a fun gen ed, DON'T make the mistake I did and take this one.

Prof. Moore seems like a nice woman, it was just evident how uninvested in the class she was. Lectures weren't interesting but the class itself is an Easy A if you put in minimal effort/Easy AB if you do nothing at all. Weekly online quizzes, two exams, a few readings are important but a majority aren't.

Incredibly boring class. Moore couldn't care less about this class. She looks bored at every single lecture. Each lecture is incredibly dry, and feels longer than it should. All the readings are longer than they need to be, and insanely boring. I thought this class was going to be interesting but it's turned into the class I least look forward to.

Took this class as an Ethnic Studies requirement. Easy A if you do the work. Do your weekly quizzes, but use CTRL-F or CTRL-G to search readings. Lecture isn't necessary because it is all posted online, but there is Tophat so watch out for that. Could be interesting if you have no background in subject, but can be very dry at times.

Easily the most boring class I've taken at UW. Prof. Moore does not seem invested at all in her class and always acts as if she doesn't want to be there. Weekly readings are very long and dull, all of which favor Democratic party policies. Sections are very bland. Overall, a very boring and useless course. Easiest A you'll ever get, but boring!

Prof Moore always seemed like she didn't want to be there. She took 20 minutes to make points that could have been summarized in 30 seconds. I felt like the class had potential to be interesting but a lot of the learning was shallow. As a person Sarah was helpful but if you are looking for an interesting class to take pass on GEO 305

This class was taught at a 4th grade level. Prof Moore has no idea what she is talking about, the content of the class is nonexistent and you are graded entirely on busywork assignments. You learn nothing about cities. Save yourself the annoyance and take a better class.

Nobody in my section enjoyed taking Introduction to the City. Professor Moore didn't seem to have expertise in the field, and all the material from this class can be found in an intro US History course. The answer to every question was segregation and the lectures made no chronological sense. There are many better uses of your tuition money.

Professor Moore is excellent. She offers a lot of useful feedback and generally loves to interact with her students. Although there is a lot of reading, walking tours, and a group project, it is all VERY manageable for a 4-credit class. As well, if you put in the work... there is no doubt you'll earn an A.

GEO305 (urban geography) is pretty lame. The reading, lecture, assignments and test fragmented and disconnected. The tests are graded by hired grader who are not even familiar of the course material. Street tours & group project are total nonsense. The conclusions of many lectures are heavily politically biased towards the Democrats

A pretty enjoyable class if you like the content. I enjoyed the class a lot, but some people may be hesitant to take it due to the heavy reading load. Quizzes are somewhat easy if you are familiar with the material as you also get to use your notes.

Pretty easy A. Like, most get A. Use CTRL+F to do quizzes.

amazing prof. if you show up and do the readings you can get a good grade however expect some reading and show up for class. iclickers are used throughout the semester. and beware of group projects!

I really didn't take much from Professor Moore's lectures. She presented simple concepts and didn't really dig into anything. She doesn't expect much out of her students which results in a really easy but disappointing class.
