About this rating

Raw average: 4.70/5 from 46 quality ratings. The adjusted rating blends this with the UW review average (3.66/5), weighted as 20 additional ratings. Smaller samples stay closer to that average. Each captured review is counted once in the prior; this does not correct who chooses to leave a review.

Fantastic person, very kind. Started the semester with cold-call questions, but stopped because enough students volunteered questions. Lots of time spent on great philosophers. Great class.

I only took philos 101 before so this was definitely a hard course. Course was only on Spinoza, which was very complex and interesting. Class discussions/lectures were very fun, but be ready to participate. Nadler was funny and chill, would recommend!

Quality 5/5Difficulty 2/5
I took this class in the honors FIG and really enjoyed it. The seminar is essentially a discussion on the assigned readings and Prof. Nadler does a good job of interacting with students and allowing them to interact with each other. He explains concepts well and gives good feedback on the papers.

Professor manages to take complex philosophical concepts and break them down into easily understandable parts in class. Never condescending, always willing to help students understand, very nice.

Quality 5/5Difficulty 3/5
Nadler was my favorite professor I have ever taken! I thought this class would be hard since it was outside of my usual STEM related classes, but even though some concepts were difficult, he really went above and beyond to help his students understand! He cares about his students and wants them to succeed. I would take this class again if I could!

PHIL101 · course not matched
Quality 3/5Difficulty 3/5
Some of the topics in the course were interesting but the lectures were completely unrelated to the assigned paper prompts. I felt like there wasn't a lot of guidance for what was expected of the papers. A lot of the concepts were all over the place. The readings are tough and discussions are unorganized and everyone just talks in circles.
