Its a disorganised course . He is an awesome researcher but not a great lecturer. Youre gonna have to work hard.
While he is sometimes hard to understand, he really is a brilliant guy. It is a must when you take this class to go to office hours. The TAs and professor are helpful, they help you get to the answer from the knowledge that you have. He is also understanding about situations, he wants his students to succeed. If you put in the effort you will pass.
Song Jin is a researcher, not a professor. He is a very intelligent man but he is an awful teacher. The class itself is unorganized, the lecture and lab should be 2 separate classes as each require 8 hours a week, and the homework and tests ask you to go way above and beyond anything you're taught. This class made me decide to not be a chem major.
He seems to enjoy to topic and like teaching it. He usually procrastinates on assigning homework, so deadlines will come quickly. He'll extend them if enough students express distress, though. The group project will be explained very poorly, though. Plan well and make sure you pick your group wisely. Exams are reasonable and homework based.
Amazing professor. Yes, his tests can be tough and he can be confusing at times. But labs and homeworks aren't that hard, and his thick Asian accent really helps break things up! He is very helpful if you ask him for help. Great, quirky guy, who really makes Chemistry a lot of fun!
He is not helpful-he would not answer my questions. Professor Jin is an intelligent man who knows chemistry, but he can't explain it in lecture. His lectures largely consist of him mumbling at the board under his breath.
Very boring lecture, with lots of examples, but he get the job done. He can be a bit unclear at times, but he is very open to questions and does a reasonable job clarifying. Overall, i think he was good professor, an A is definitely within grasp for those willing to put in a little effort. The labs are tedious, but there is A LOT of help available.
Professor Jin does talk a bit fast with a slight accent and covers a lot of material during lecture, but use his office hours and the TA. The exams are straight from the homework so study his homework sets. He provides all the equations and the exam is pretty explanatory. A lot easier than other Analytical Professors!
Has a bit of an accent and gets really excited during class, but you can mostly understand him. Labs really suck, but it's not hard to get an A in the class. Get good grades on the homework, and it will balance out your lab scores! Fair tests, no final.
Really nice guy and explains things well in lecture. Exams are really fair and just like the homework & book problems. The class is a lot of work, but it's pretty easy to pull of decent grade with the lenient grading scale. It's not as bad as everyone says. The average gpa in the class was 3.37, so around a B/AB range.
Talks very fast and incomprehensibly at times. Lectures are also fairly disorganized. Pretty average overall.
Awesome professor. I don't know what the person under me is saying but tests are exactly like the homework sets (which are rediculously hard) but if you get a good TA, its not too bad of a class. Labs suck though. Overall awesome professor though. It's a tough class but I learned so much from him.
He seems like a really nice/cool dude. If you can get past the accent, he is actually not a bad teacher. However, homework assignments are awful- incredibly poorly worded and difficult to understand what the questions are asking. Going to office hours are a definite necessity just to understand the questions.
Talks under his breath, hard to understand. Covers material quickly. Gives confusing problem sets that he says are just like the exams, but they aren't really. I would recomend another professor if you can
Good at covering everything that will be on the exam. Explains things if you ask him. The class is difficult but if you look over all your notes and read the book you will do fine. Good professor.

clear handwriting and explanations.
This guy is straight up hilarious! He is probably the best lecturer i have had, even though others would say "what the hell?" His class is hard, after all, it is ANALytical chemistry. He is very willing to help students out (he saved my groups ass on our project for the honors section), very great guy.
This guy did not know how to teach. when i was taking him, about half of the class dropped off. he always confused why people did so bad in his exams. how could we do well when he tested on all the things that were not been emphasized in class?? He was presenting the material rather than teaching. Good luck on those who plan to take his class.
He's a pretty nice guy, always willing to help. Covers the content a bit too fast though and his exams are really hard. :( Then again, maybe the class is just supposed to be hard or that I am dumb.
