Ron is an amazing professor; he keeps you engaged throughout the entire lecture and makes sure you understand all the material. He's open to questions and has easy work to accomplish every other week or so, which is just a discussion post. If you study for the exam, you'll do great on it, and it is very straightforward.

If you want an easy biology credit with a great prof, Ron's your guy. He's been teaching this class for a long time and it shows. The exams are memorization-heavy, but the material isn't difficult and common sense if you like animals. Ron doesn't give homework outside of canvas discussions, and he's always willing to answer questions in class.

Super interesting class, no homework or final outside of attendance and super easy weekly quizzes online that discuss lecture content. Ron is one of my favorite professors and is super passionate about chickens and willing to answer questions. Got to discuss a lot of cool things about chickens and do dissections.

Ron is very caring and has fun lectures! I took this class for an easier bio credit but ended up really enjoying it! Grading is based on a few discussion posts that are easy, tophat in lectures, and tests. Tests are a lot of info to remember and so can be a bit difficult, but manageable.

I signed up for this class for easy bio requirements (B.A. req), which is only partially true. Ron has no homework outside discussion questions (which is just asking your opinion), and gives you extra credit just for showing up. However, the tests are A LOT. You need to study every single slide to get an A, but it's a fair alternative to homework.

Great class. Everything on the exam is covered in lecture and you can tell Ron really cares about his class. Some memorization but everything is really interesting and explained well with great exam review sessions. He has lots of love for chickens, looking forward to taking more of his classes in the upcoming years.

Very Professional

If you don't go to lecture you are screwed. You are only graded by exams. He offers a fill-in-yourself book that you can get at the university bookstore. 10/10 recommend. It has the same information from the lecture slides. Because of this I could listen more and write less. There is extra credit (one point per lecture via TopHat.)

I found the lectures very informative yet enjoyable from day one. Although there isn't homework or essays, paying attention in lecture is what is going to make or break you in this class! Just take notes! Gives extra credit for every in class Top Hat question answered (around 1 per lecture). This will bump your grade up a few percentage points!

when i tell y'all to never take a class by this man, i mean it whole heartily. his tests are tough for no reason and is overall not a great professor. struggling and seeking help - he wont help you one bit but instead be rude to you (so kind right). when i hear his name brought up or am near his presence i want to literally gag and throw up.

I would definitely NOT recommend taking a class with Ron. He is very rude and could not care less about his students.

Ron is one of my favorite professors. He is a funny, sweet and a very understanding professor. I will say, he will tell you what you don't have to memorize which I really like and find helpful.

Does not know his left from right about anything. Would not recommend his class at all. Yikes.

Seems like a nice guy but boy look again. Ron's lectures are straight forward but his tests are a different story. He will say that what he spends the most time in lecture is what will be on the tests but that is far from the truth. We studied one topic for days for it not to appear on the exam once, but stuff we don't talk is put on the exam.

Professor was super passionate about what he teaches. I enjoyed attending the lectures. Your grade consists of a couple exams and extra credit Top Hat questions. Exams were not difficult if you paid attention and went to lecture. Oftentimes he would tell you what was important to know. Overall, one of my favorite classes.

Really nice guy. Lectures are easy to follow. Make sure you go to class.

Easiest class I have taken in college, but I love animals and knew a lot before taking it. Otherwise, be prepared because it's a lot of memorization. You must attend lectures to understand, I never missed one. Lectures are not bad though. TopHat questions for extra credit. Tests on paper, they felt like a middle school bio test. Prof is a nice guy.

Ron is a very understanding proffessor. His class relys mostly on the ability to memorize and is quite test heavy. However, he provides very clear lectures as well as being able to talk outside of class. I recommend getting the lecture notes at UBS as they help take the workload off of the student by a lot. Rons lectures are easy to follow!

Ron was a great presenter to class and was very passionate about the topics. While attendance isn't mandatory, and the subject matter is fairly simple to know and understand - make sure you pay attention in lectures as often times Ron will passively tell the class the answer to an exam question, with it not in the slides.

Was a good professor, but you have to go to every lecture and listen to every word or you will not know some questions on the exams, even if you get slides sent to you. There was extra credit through tophat and you will get an A if you take good notes a memorize them.

Ron's wholesome and presents a couple slides per lecture and then allows the class to interact with the university chickens to learn about the day's topic. 10/10 recommend

Honestly don't know why this guy has 5's across the board on this website. He is no where near perfect. The good thing is he's very nice. The problem is Ron makes your life very tough in this class as you HAVE to attend lecture to get the necessary material for the exam. He says specific things in lecture that are not in the lecture slides

Professor Kean is a very good professor. Some think the class is easy but you definitely have to work for your grade, as long as you have time to memorize and attend every lecture you will get an A. Attendance is not mandatory however you get 1 pt of extra credit for attending each lecture, which adds up to an extra 40 points. Overall fun class.

The class is only graded on 4 exams, so attending lectures is essential. Luckily, Ron is a great teacher. He is kind, and his lectures are always informative and easy to understand. The tests are fair and he does a good job of highlighting what topics will be most important. There's also extra credit questions in class and no HW besides studying.

Three 50 min lectures a week, no homework, three exams, and a final. There is participation extra credit. The tests are medium- hard, but they are all fair game from lectures. If you skip lectures, tests will be difficult. He gives you a study guide. Prof Kean is a bit monotone but also pretty funny.

Ron is a solid prof a little monotone at times but passionate as a prof. The class is only 4 exams for the entire grade so showing up to lectures is a must in order to do well in the class. Definitely a good choice for a bio credit class.

Only lectures and no discussion. Class is always interesting, and I always learn new things. If you skip class, you will have no idea what's going on, because he doesn't post the lectures online. However, he is very responsive to emails, and overall a very nice man. I recommend this class to everyone with a bio requirement.

Ron is such a nice guy and so sweet. If you take the time to meet with him and explain yourself as a student, he will be very accommodating. If you just attend lectures and really study the material, you'll be fine. If you don't do that, you will do absolutely terrible. The class is graded only on 4 exams.

Professor Kean is a really nice guy. Although some of his lectures were quite dry, his tests were always fair game and he was always very responsive to his emails. The class itself was quite interesting. If you are interested in pets take this class!

Ron was a solid choice for "non-sciencey" biological science credit. Your entire grade comes from three tests and a final (Quizlet and his practice exams will help tremendously come test time). All the lectures are pre-recorded, so you need to be disciplined and watch them on your own time. The material was pretty interesting, and EC is available!

i'm online and essentially it's all lectures with 3 exams and a cumulative exam. he's very interested in birds lol, and his lectures all give the content needed for the exams, and USE THE PRACTICE EXAMS HE PROVIDES YOU!!!!! he reuses questions. overall pretty easy bio class, but you definitely need to study for the exams, but if you do you'll pass

This class teaches you how to raise your pet, it is one of the most interested classes in this university. I like cats and I really want to know what should I do before and after I have one. Ron provided the necessary information for me, I decided to adopt a cat in the future because of this class. It is something more crucial than the grade.

This class really requires you to be there since the lectures are not posted online and there is no textbook. But, I did find the classes mostly engaging and Ron knows a lot about animals. If you want a pet in the future, I would definitely take this class. Sometimes you may find class boring and fall asleep, so drink some caffeine before!

If science is not your thing but you need science credit, take this class! It can be incredibly boring sometimes, but all the material is very understandable unlike genetics or chemistry etc. Ron is a nice guy and the work load is manageable. No homework except studying for 3 exams and final. The exams are tricky so take time to study!!

Not an easy A like I expected. The class is only 3 midterms and 1 final, which does not seem too bad until You do need to attend lecture to get all the information. His exams are tricky in the sense that the T/F questions really get you. Yes there is extra credit but it does not bump you up that much.

This class is all lectures and it's all on you to know the information. Ron is a great professor who is very knowledgeable although he does get a little dry at times. So yeah, you MIGHT fall asleep, I sure did a few times. You are only graded via 3 midterms and 1 final exam.

Ron is great! ANSCI200 is 100% worth it to get a quick bio credit. Don't buy the textbook, everything you need to know is in his lectures which means you absolutely have to go to class or get the notes from someone else. When you take notes you're basically making your own textbook. Tests aren't too bad if you study and the material is interesting.

Prof. Kean's AnSci200 is a great class to take for Biological Science credits. The class is clear, interesting, and there is no homework but studying for tests. To pass this class and get a good grade all you have to do is come to class, take notes, and study for the test. He also offers up to 5% of your overall grade in extra credit.

This is not A EASY A. I am sure about it. You have to study hard. If you are looking for an easy A. You should not pick this class. RONALD is a good person, you can feel he really love animals. If you are interested in this topic, you should go. He knows a lot about animals.

A lot of people don't show up to lecture, which I don't exactly condone -- all test material is taken right from it. The textbook is literally just his slides (he wrote it). Do go to the review sessions though; they really helped!!! Ron is lots of fun and the class is a hoot. Big lecture hall though.

Ron is very passionate about animal science, and is obsessed with birds. An sci 200 is a fairly easy class and his lectures are always interesting, especially those about birds.

Really good class and professor. Easy and fun bio credits.

Good professor, definitely a good class to take if you need a bio credit. No homework or reading, but you should go to lecture. If you go to class and study a little exams pretty easy. Not clap for credit easy, but easy. Extra credit oppurtunities if you go to class, which can be a grade booster if you botched one of the exams. Funny guy too.

Ron's awesome! Goofy guy and class is pretty straight forward. Go to lecture, take notes, study before test, and you're good. No homework or discussion; it's a pretty chill and interesting class. TopHat points at lecture are extra credit and the "textbook" is his lecture slides, very convenient.

Awesome

the book has all the slide information on it, has extra credit clicker points if you go to class. you do have to study for the test, but not a whole lot. not a clap for credit class but still not difficult to get an A in the course with little effort

I first had Ron for An Sci 200 and loved his class so I took his An Sci 375 Exploring Poultry course and I can't recommend it enough! Ron clearly is passionate about poultry and somehow he managed to make learning about poultry really exciting. His class is also super easy with no homework, just easy quizzes. Can't recommend this class enough!

If you need bio credits, take this class. There are no readings or homework, and the exams are easy if you go to lecture. Although he can be a bit quirky (he really loves poultry), Ron is knowledgeable, nice and surprisingly funny. He also offers up to five percent extra credit for going to lecture. Seriously, take this class.

Nice guy that is very well organized and helpful. Good professor overall, but tests are pretty hard unless you have background knowledge in the topic. Good extra credit opportunities though. There is a text book that outlines the lecture slides almost exactly, however you could take notes without it and be fine

This professor does everything to make sure that his students understand the subject and everything to assure that they get an A. He is an all-around great professor!!!

First day of class I thought, dang he's monotone and super obsessed with poultry, this is going to be a loooong year. But I ended up loving his quirky personality. Kean is straightforward as can be. He literally tells you in lecture exactly what is important and exactly what you don't need to know. Plus you learn about cute pets. easy bio credit.

I took this class because I thought it would be an easy A, but the tests are so specific and I ended up with a worse grade than I had hoped for. Kind of a funny class, I say go for it and take it if you don't mind learning about quirky animals and remembering the specifics about them.

My favorite professor so far! The book is a composition of his powerpoint slides, but he mentions 'big ideas' in class that WILL be on the tests. Every iclicker question you answer is an extra credit point even if your answer is wrong! (about 50 points in a semester!) If you love pets, Ron loves to teach about them!! Highly recommend him!

The class was very straight-forward and not terribly hard. Class is optional, but he talks about things that aren't always in the book, and that's what usually ends up on the exams. No homework, only 4 exams. Clicker questions everyday that add up toward participation points.

Tests are really specific for a broad lecture. A lot of information is covered for the exams. I go to every class and pay attention and study a lot and still don't do that well. I was told this would be an easy A class, and there is no way this is an EASY A class. Also, sooooooooooo far away. :( I would never recommend this class to anyone ever.

I don't understand why people are complaining about this class. Yes, it is necessary to attend class because he throws in comments that will be on the test, but he usually makes it very clear that what he's adding is important. I studied for about 1.5 hours for each test and got a 95+ on each one. Kean is approachable and interested in the material

Very nice professor!

Professor Kean is pretty awesome. The textbook is a book of his PowerPoint slides which is great. Al you really have to do is show up, pay attention and write his blurbs. There is extra credit opportunity too

The textbook is a book of notes that he put together. Still recommended you get it, because he goes through the notes pretty fast.

Great Class for a broad look at animals. Pretty simple if you attend lecture and keep up with the notes. No homework just three exams and a final and extra credit clicker questions. Would recommend for anyone with an interest in animals and for people who need a science credit.

This class is NOT easy. I enrolled because I thought it was an easy A...wrong. You have to memorize the entire book. Kean reads the book off his slides, and will add only 1 or 2 comments per lecture so that if you weren't there to hear that little blurb, you're screwed because it's bound to be on the test. This class is only for science majors.

This class was really easy. i would've gotten a better grade if I had gone to class more. Most of the lectures are in your book, which makes this class practically a walk in the park. Ron is a little pretentious, but the topic of the class makes up for it.

Ron's lectures were kind of dry and came straight from the book, but the material was often very interesting and the classes were worth going to for the pictures and added comments. There are 3 exams and if you go to class and know the main points well, the exams are not that difficult

Ron is a little corny and awkward but he clearly loves animals (mainly birds). His textbook is basically his lecture slides so if you can buy a used one you're set. Exams are a bit tricky since he likes short answers that actually require lots of memorization. He'll give you past exams to study from though.

I was told this was an easy A, but failed the course, allong with most of my friends who attended every class. The lectures are extremely boring and broad, but tests are specific. The lecture is read straight from the book/slides. Dont expect a response if you email him. I do not reccommend this class to anybody unless you plan on being a vet.

Really fun class. I enjoyed almost all of the material we learned about. I would highly suggest going to lecture, for he adds in crucial information that is not included in the book. Prof. Kean can be a little dry at times, but he tries to liven up lectures as much as possible. Definitely a good class to take!

if you spend hours studying the material, and attend every lecture this class is still very very difficult. need to be capable of memorizing minute detail to get good grades, if you have a photographic memory you are set, otherwise avoid this class. expects students to have uncanny memory.

this prof is extremely monotone, if you study though, you can probably get an A. need to really memorize all the minute details that are part of biology so if you like bio, take this class

nice guy. The exams are filled with tiny facts that you won't think are important enough to study. This class isn't an easy A. No outside work just 3 exams

I was told this class was easy. I was lied to. It's much harder than you'd expect. There is a ton of random information to know. The textbook is just a compilation of his lecture notes. Ron is a decent lecturer but is rather mono-toned. SORRY BUT THIS CLASS IS NOT AN EASY A.

If you love animals you will love this class. You have to be an idiot to get anything lower than an A in this class, you really do. It's NOT hard, but a simple re-reading of the notes will get you a nearly perfect grade. Ron is great at answering questions and interested in engaging in further discussion if you are. Awesome class!

If you show up to class and pay attention, you will get a good grade. Ron Kean is very easy going and knows it's a blow off class just as much as we do. I highly recommend taking it.

Biology and Appreciation of Companion Animals: Very easy class. The book is made of the lecture notes. You could probably not attend class all semester and still get an A. Exam was harder than what was put online but not too bad. Extra credit option. Lots of the info is common sense but he provides other interesting info and shows pictures as well.

It is a very easy course if you put in time to study for exams, but they are much more difficult than you'd expect. I'd say half the class showed up on any given day, but most exam questions are right from lecture. There is no homework. Ron is nice and very helpful and really knows a lot. The material is totally useless. Good for bio credit.

Ron Kean is awesome, easy A class, pretty much all the stupid athletes are there

the tests are WAY harder than they ever need to be. i studied all the time went to every lecture and still got a c in the class, and i usually get pretty good grades.

very easy class, easy exams. Come on, the football team is in there! I rarely went to lecture and NEVER studied and got the easiest A of my career. Ron is very helpful also, answers all questions (no matter how obvious) and covers topics people ask him to.

Ron is the coolest, cutest man ever. His jokes are hilarious. I know know all about ferrots and i love Ron Kean.

Class is sooooo boring. Oh my GOD I wanted to die sitting in that class. Tests are picky and dumb as hell. The class is useless.

Very nice guy, kind of awkward, but in a cute way. Tests are picky, but class is interesting and fun.

He's a nice guy and loves his job. Go to class and the tests won't be hard

Pretty boring class

Very Boring...take a nap before hand or you WILL fall asleep. He does make the best effort to make it interesting though..guest lectures are worst. exams are based on lecture, so take good notes and study everything...if you don't you won't do so hot on the exams.

Really easy class. Have to study for tests but everything from lecture. Good class to take.

BORING.

The class was much harder than I figured, but Ron did his best to make the lectures interesting. Don't blow off the lectures, the tests are challenging.

The class is pretty easy and there are good opportunities for extra credit. Just don't think that you can completely blow off the class, the tests can be a little challenging.

Raising Sea Monkeys is probably more entertaining than this class...Review sessions are pointless because he will not elaborate on what he is and is not going to test on.
