I really enjoyed Professor Bhavnani's lectures, you could tell that he knew what he was talking about and really enjoyed the subject. He is very clear before the tests what to expect, and is very fair in writing the tests. I found the readings to be optional, he goes over everything you need to know in the lectures.
Probably the best Professor I have ever had and will ever have. Rikhil teaching style is the most organized and easy-to-understand I could imagine. He makes every topic in the class interesting and every reading if fruitful and serves a purpose! The exams are fair and did not spend a lot of time studying for them. Would 100% recommend Rikhil!
This class was fairly easy. He did not clearly outline the first of two exams and I did not know that he would expect us to be able to attach the names of the authors we had read throughout the course to their ideas. There is a very small sample size for the evaluations in the form of 2 exams consisting of 5 IDs and 1 essay. Do the readings.
Great, real world examples. Clear instructor who is very well prepared. Professional. 1 midterm, 1 noncumulative final, one group project. Attendance is mandatory. I had an average level of interest but the class was engaging enough to go by quickly. Fair, clear grading. Great experience, would take again.
Rikhil was a great professor. He clearly knows what he's talking about and everything I learned from this course I feel like I can apply to real life. I'm glad I took his class and would definitely recommend it.
Lectures were interesting and material may be applied to real world situations. Professor was very knowledgable and has a background in development. I looked forward to going to lecture. Tests are IDs and an essay but nothing that isn't difficult. Readings are long but may be skimmed. Recommend to anyone interested in the topic.

Absolutely amazing class! Started the semester not caring about Indian Politics and left fascinated. Easily my favorite professor, and I am a senior. made a 2 hour class super fun, and he was really helpful outside of class. Take a course by him!
Course title "Indian Politics in Comparative Perspective" was hands down one of the best courses I've taken in Poli Sci. Professor Bhavnani is incredibly knowledgeable about the subject (he studied at Yale and Stanford, from Bombay originally) and is a fantastic seminar facilitator. Not necessarily an easy A, but worth it.
