I loved this class (although I am a CSD major)... Litovsky is an incredible figure in this field and loves the material she teaches. She was available after class to answer questions and wants you to succeed. Only 3 tests and few quizzes so going to lecture is very important. Extra credit is available
Professor Litovsky is extremely knowledgeable and passionate about her field, sometimes I can go over students heads. I would NOT take this class if you are not a CSD major. It is easy to get extra credit and get an A because of it, but it is time consuming. Tests are difficult and there are quizzes almost every week that require a lot of prep
I loved this class! It was super interesting. Prof. Litovsky such a nice person, and if you ask for help she will help you. The only one problem that I had was that she has no office hours so it is sometimes hard to talk with her if you have a class before and after her class. Otherwise I totally recommend her when you need to take 202.
She's nice and helpful but my only gripe is that her test and quiz questions are worded confusingly. Often they are quite ambiguous. Going to discussions is in my opinion more practical than lecture since you can practice the material you need to know. Textbook I found to be not necessary.
The final basically has the exact questions from the previous midterm!
Prof. Litovsky is perhaps the best biology professor you can find in UW Madison. She offers tons of extra credits (Total 36 points towards 400) and clear exam guide for students. So this class won't take too long for you to study (a couple of hours before exams). Has to take Prof. Litovsky if she's teaching. :)
Her lectures are very disorganized. She clearly has a lot of knowledge about the subject matter, but she could work on distilling it for her audience. Test questions can be worded confusingly. Thankfully, she has an awesome TA and offers extra credit. By the end of the semester, I felt like I learned a lot, but things were very confusing at first.
Dr. Litovsky is a WONDERFUL professor who genuinely cares about her student's understanding of the material. You get to drop 2 quizzes, 1 exam and tons of extra credit opportunities as well as a review session before each exam. I cannot stress how much of a caring professor and person she is.
Considering this class is not my favorite topic Professor Litovsky made lectures very engaging! 4 exams and 7 quizzes but you get to drop your lowest exam and lowest 2 quiz grades. Lots of help and extra discussion meetings if you need it, and there is always a study guide for every exam and quiz - study those and you will do fine. Lots of EC.
Professor Litovsky is the kindest professor I have ever had. She genuinely wants students in her class to succeed. Though the material in the class is not easy, she does offer LOTS of extra credit (don't skip class-iClicker questions are extra credit!). Also, study guides are VERY helpful on quizzes on exams.
Ruth is an awesome professor. She is clearly invested in her students and makes learning the material interesting. Unlike other professors I have had in the past, she encourages students to ask questions and always does a thorough job answering them. There are four exams, and one is dropped, so the final is optional. Her study guides are helpful!!
Prof. Litovsky was SO nice. She was one of my favorite professors this semester. The material could be challenging, but you can tell she genuinely cares about the class understanding concepts. Lectures were clear, and even though I didn't go to discussions I still did fine. 4 exams, but you drop your lowest, and lots of EC. Barely used the book.
This class is challenging, but manageable. I found the optional discussions not to be helpful, and the book goes into way more detail than the lecture, so reading the book isn't very necessary. Litovsky is a good lecturer, and is pretty specific about what she wants on the exams, so make sure you show up to class and study for exams
I was a little intimidated with this class at first, but if you go to class, the optional discussion and study the study guides, you will do well. She is more than happy to help whenever needed. 3 exams, a couple of quizzes, extra credit opportunities, and an optional final. With some effort, it is definitely a manageable A. :)
Exams fair and pretty easy if you understand how much she wants you to know about each topic. Book goes into too much detail. Extra credit options available randomly, many of which are in class and not mentioned prior to attendance. Importance of graphs not emphasized enough for test purposes. Final is optional and based solely on prior exams.
