ROBERT LUTFI

I am a smart person and I had a really hard time with his style of teaching. I 100 percent respect him but he doesn't work for me. Be ready for really hard test questions..

He does not explain things well in class. I don't have the clue of what to review after class. Many problems in the test are not explained well in class. As a non-CSD major, I have to say that, DO NOT take this class just for the biological science credit, choose other classes instead.

This professor really made me work hard for my A. He teaches with depth and breadth. If you work hard in his class, you will have the strongest foundation in Hearing Sciences than anyone ever in CSD. You DON'T need the book. You MUST come to class to get an A. He does not explain concepts in multiple ways. It's the Lutfi way or the highway.

This class is not easy. The textbook isn't necessary. Do not miss class. The first third of the class is the most difficult material. His tests are word tricky so make sure you do the practice problems. Ask questions during lecture and talk through the concepts with him that you struggle with. He is very kind and wants you to succeed.

The first topic in CSD202 is by far the hardest of the 3 and it gets you really stressed about the class. The 2nd and 3rd topics are much easier. Bob is a SUPER nice guy but isn't always clear with his explanations. If you go to him for help he is very willing to answer your questions.

Professor Lutfi is not very good at "dumbing down" information to our level. He's not good at making sure you understand what information is important or explaining examples well. I used wikipedia to explain a lot of the concepts to myself before the test. I ended up getting an AB, but this was a LOT harder than other the other CSD prereqs.
