Honestly his lectures were a bit hard to sit through. Just because I would get bored and it's hard to take good notes because lecture was all about applying the reading material to real stories and examples. Super easy to pass though. Mostly essays. Nice, funny person.Rate My Professors ↗

Very interesting lectures, you can tell he is very knowledgable but the class itself ended up being very repetitive. Majority of the grade is based on four papers graded by TAs, so you need to have a good TA to succeed in this class. Content is easy enough, but grading criteria is very vague. great lecturer and cares a lot, but you need a good TA because there are 4 papers that make up 65% of your grade. my TA was way harsher than the others and it's hard to raise your grade if your papers get scored low. the lectures ended up feeling super repetitive, but the content was interesting. some of the concepts were kinda abstract.Rate My Professors ↗
Lectures can be hard to follow, but there aren't many assignments, and your grades are focused mainly on the papers. Unfortunately, the papers are hard to complete as there isn't much direction, and the prompts can be confusing. TAs also grade very inconsistently.Rate My Professors ↗
Loved Prof. Beattie; he was super caring and passionate about his field. The class itself was easy, yet you are graded mainly by 4 essays. The essays have many requirements, yet are limited in word count. Additionally, there is not much direction in the papers, so you lose points on things you didn't know you needed.
