This course was great. She's teaching eye-opening material, which clearly many below didn't digest. She doesn't preach her opinion in lecture. She uses research and academic works to convey messages about institutional discrimination. No exams! Essays were a bit tough. Readings were easy (but long). Fair grader. Always willing to help. The class material was the worst part about this class. It's a lot of sensitive topics about racism. However, if you just do the weekly work and put in a few hours a week, you'll get a good grade. This is great for the ethnic studies requirement.Rate My Professors ↗
Side note: this class isn't about white guilt! She stresses that white people shouldn't feel guilty about their whiteness - just aware. :) If you do oppose an idea in the class, she wasn't condescending. She wants to engage with her students in a positive way. Overall, I'd recommend her over other profs! She's SO helpful if you just reach out.Rate My Professors ↗
Interesting class. I usually follow liberal beliefs, but this class is extremely one sided to the point where I developed an annoyance to it. Other than that we had no exams, but short analysis essays and weekly write ups.Rate My Professors ↗

If you have conservative views, stay away from this class! The textbook taught from is written by a liberal extremist, therefore the class is taught from a very one-sided perspective. Aside from that, Rachel Fish is an effective lecturer and grades assignments fairly. If taking the class, I would definitely recommend taking it with her!!Rate My Professors ↗
