"Gene" Phillips is a real gem. I had him for my FIG and was allowed to write a paper about what I wanted. He's really kind, caring, and loves what he does. He's also very knowledgeable not just on art history but feminist topics (his research intersects the two). Hard work but he cares about if like your grade or not.Rate My Professors ↗
Professor Philips is great. You do have to show up to class and participate, but if you do its easy. He gives great feedback and will tell you how to improve your paper. There were no exams in this class, but there were a couple papers and reading for every class.Rate My Professors ↗

Prof. Phillips is a very nice man and is passionate about what he teaches. His slides are always posted, but not until days after lecture. Also, almost half of the lectures are taught by boring guest speakers. There is quite a bit of reading to do to prepare for each lecture and section, and the two exams are both written and non-cumulative.Rate My Professors ↗
I love him! He's a really nice guy and is very approachable. Knows what he's talking about and is clearly passionate about what he does. He is good about repeating important material and makes lectures interesting.
