I took both J202 and J649 with Pete and he was a wonderful instructor for both courses. 649 is so interesting and he is so clearly invested in both the material and his students. Pete so obviously wants every student in his classroom to succeed and be prepared for their careers, he is a wonderful professor and human being.
I took 676 and 345 with Pete. J676 is my favorite class I've ever taken. Also, attend his personal branding lecture. Just do it.
Pete is the GOAT! Really passionate about the industry and wants to help everyone succeed. Lectures/readings cover a lot at once which makes short weekly quizzes hard, but Pete offers a ton of extra credit opportunities. Class will be under a new name next year, but if you're interested in brand management TAKE IT!! Learned SO much and HW was fun!
Pete Long is truly an amazing professor. He has encouraged me to do my best and cares about each and every one of his students. I would highly recommend taking one of his classes if you get the chance.
This was the first course I ever took with Prof. Long, and I wasn't disappointed. It is evidently clear how passionate he is about the PR and journalism industry, and it shows in his lectures. The course itself is rather easy, with minimal assignments and non-mandatory lectures. He gives great advice on "real-world" situations, too!
Pete is by far one of the most caring professors I've ever had. You can tell he just loves teaching and really wants you to succeed in both school and in your career. His lectures can be really dry and monotone at times, and for a longer class makes it a challenge to stay focused, which is his biggest teaching flaw.
Not taking 345 with Pete would be a huge mistake. The grading is super easy, workload is very manageable and it is essentially just one semester-long group project with a few quizzes sprinkled in. He gives study guides for the quizzes that tell you exactly what will be on it. You won't need to do more than 1 or 2 hrs of out of class work each week.
Professor Pete Long was an amazing professor. You can easily tell he's passionate about teaching, which makes lectures enjoyable. He is quick to answer questions and emails and truly cares about students' well-being and achievement. He understands that as a student, there is a life outside of the classroom which I really respect.
Professor Long was one of the kindest professors I've had. Although the class was taught entirely online, he made sure to be accessible to students. Most of the work in 345 is group work in preparation for the final campaign book due at the end of the semester. Need to pay attention to lectures for midterm and final, but not difficult overall
Pete is a great professor and J345 was an interesting class. The group project was really intense and kind of confusing online, but Pete was helpful and easy to reach with concerns. There wasn't a ton of reading, and we had a take-home midterm and final. Overall, the class wasn't too hard and Pete cares a lot about students.
J345 is heavily project based. At times it gets confusing (since were online right now) but Professor Long has been nothing but kind, understanding, and flexible during this difficult time. I highly respect him for understanding we are drained right now. The take home midterm and final were a bit long but do test your knowledge well.
