The class material is very difficult but PJ does a good job explaining it to the best of his abilities. Outside of class he's a cool guy that cares about students. In my opinion, he's on the better end of Act Sci professors at UW.

The class is naturally very difficult, but PJ makes it very clear and is always available and willing to answer questions about the material. The best way to study for exams and quizzes is by doing practice problems and making sure you understand the homework. He also will confirm homework answers during office hours.

He does a lot of proving and reading slides in lectures. Not helpful when students ask questions after class, could be condescending, not sympathetic at all. I personally wont take any class with him anymore

Paul is the best!!!!

Don't take if you are not a traditional student, if you have a job, family or any obligation outside of the college, you're going to be stressed. Best for people with lots of extra time, if you have no choice just get coaching actuaries, it'll be more efficient.

Mediocre, lazy. Someone else's power point, someone else's exercises. He reads the slides to you. Puts you to sleep. Not successful in life.

PJ rocks!

PJ is one of the best professors I have at at UW. He does a great job of explaining why topics are important and gives many examples to help you learn the concepts. Tests and homework can be hard, but by studying the lecture examples and going through the homework problems, the tests are very doable.

Never explains the broad picture or why you are doing things. Lectures feel so rushed. You watch him read a proof on a slide and then he just jumps right into problems and expects you to know how to do them. Also very condescending when you ask questions.

Fails to be sympathetic toward students. Needs to be more personable.

He is not very clear in his lecturing. He expects you to remember every single detail from one lecture to the next. He spends a lot of time on proofs, and little time on applying the concepts. If you catch on to things quickly you should be fine, but he doesn't spend much time on the basics which are the foundation of the class.

PJ is the bomb.
