Don't take this course with him! Despite attending almost all classes, I would say they're totally unhelpful because he provided little guidance on the code or even wrong suggestions. He can't tell what is expected from your work and had no clear grading rubric on any details. His feedback is always late and useless for preparing project and exams.
AVOID HIM! I don't know how the positive comment came from unless he discriminates against certain students. He offered ZERO help with the final project. He couldn't even bothered to clearly explain his expectations, not even posting a grading rubric. By the way dude you are so rude to assume anyone feeling unfair didn't devote enough effort.
Worst professor I've had so far. The class is totally disorganized—2hr lecture videos and insanely hard quizzes every week. He never posts grades or feedback until the end, making it impossible to study. Doesn't know how to use Canvas, no rubric for the project, and offers no help with debugging. Don't take it unless required. Wasted all my efforts
Cares about his students success. If you don't attend class and contribute all semester, he will not be willing to help. But if you show up and make consistent effort, he will go out of his way to help you succeed on the project. Loved Parmesh, negative experiences are a result of not going to class and interacting w/ him throughout the semester.
He speaks with such a thick Indian accent that I can't understand a word he says. If you want any help with your project, absolutely don't take his class—it's terrible. He often gives random answers to questions, so you won't get a bit of useful help.
He came across as unprepared and was often confused about the prompt or assumptions of the project/assignments. He gave convoluted answers to simple yes or no questions and made life unnecessarily troublesome. The only saving grace in this class was Hoffman's recorded lectures and office hours. **Do NOT take 551 with him**
He recycled his slides and course material from previous professors. He's more spontaneous than prepared, and doesn't explain his expectations very well. Takes 30 minutes to answer a yes/no question. Very harsh and almost insulting feedback on presentations.
Real Time Systems is Parmesh's forte and it shows. He will reduce boring papers to intuitive interesting concepts and discuss them in class. The class is interesting and workload is primarily exams and research project.
Courses taught from taking quizzes on computers, personally I think very helpful. Do NOT buy the textbook as you will not need it. Only compliant is a lot to learn for a 2 credit course and many students already knew stuff
Worst professor I have had in my four years. Absolutely no guidelines for the major project that's going to take 120+ hours and it's only worth 30% of the final grade. Exams are horribly tough (30% of the class got below a 50% on the midterm). Really hard to understand him in lecture. Would not advise taking him for any class.
Lost all interest in this topic. He has no expectations for what will be on the exam but still weighs the class heavily on the outcome.
Parmesh cares so little about his class that it's almost insulting. His slides were made by Mike Morrow and his homeworks are recycled form years past. AVOID HIM!
Please don't take ECE 551 when he is offering. His class will drop your interest level in course to a zero level. There will be a term project which will have so vague specifications that you will have no clue as to how to proceed. He does not help in projects and avoids the pertinent areas of the course.
Just Bad.
One of the worst professors I have ever had. Just reads off lecture slides in class that someone else wrote. I wish I could give negative values for his interest level. His project is the most convoluted piece of junk I have ever had to work on. He does not know what is going on in the class, nor does he care. Avoid this terrible professor!
If you want to learn anything at all, DO NOT TAKE the class with him. Doesn't care about the class. Doesn't even make his own slides. Has no idea what to do in class.
not all that good .. he was okay until we hit assembly language then he drastically went down hill, i thought, especially after he started using power point slides ... HW is tough but you are in groups of 3 ppl .. understanding the hw is very crucial in getting a good score on midterms.

Very nice professor, has an accent but if you listen in lecture you're okay. Homeworks are in groups of three and reading the book outside of class is useful. The book isn't particularly helpful though, so sometimes you just have to do your best. No final, just four equally weighted midterms, all very fair. Good class.
