pretty chill class, but is entirely busy work. there are 4 zooms a semester and besides that you just complete weekly assignments that do not take too long.
This is good class to take as it discusses clear aspects of society. Natalie discusses topics clearly and unbiased so that people can understand issues.
Watch lectures and take lots of notes and you should be fine for quizzes and discussion sections and posts. Tough grading on journal entries where you have to summarize two hours of lectures and readings into 250 words or less.. which is quite difficult. Can be easy enough if you put in the time, but it can be a lot of time for a humanities class
Terrible professor. Does not care about her students. You will not get the grade you want in this class. Not easy or accommodating.
Overall, this class was terrible. The graders are very hard and unreasonable. Every week you write 200 words to explain a whole week of lecture and then the grader marks you off so much if you miss anything, when its impossible to add it all. Natalie is not accommodating and does not care what grade you get. Very liberal class.
Took this for an easy A. Achieved it, but worked for it w/time. Quiz ?'s come right from lecture videos. I took notes on all lectures and it helped A LOT! Weekly summaries get annoying - rewrite notes from lec & you're good! 3 papers/performances. Be willing to do busy work. Nice lec was online & 4 online discussions/semester via webcam.
Way too much busy work for a humanities class. Two hours of online lectures, plus several readings, a discussion post and journal every week. Weeks that there are a paper due there is also a midterm, an online discussion and the other 4 things due as well. Grade unnecessarily difficult for an entry class. Would not take again.
Online lectures are boring and the required readings are super long. This class is NOT an easy A and for 3 credits seemed like a ton of work. Four Friday discussions are mandatory, but you get full points for talking once or twice. SO MUCH WRITING! Four papers, weekly discussion posts, and weekly summaries of 200 words or less.
Natalie is very helpful, and conveys her message very clearly. If you need an elective credit and a class with Natalie works in your favor, take it.
There are 3 quizzes, 2 papers, and 1 cumulative exam. The quizzes are exactly what is covered in lecture. As long as you take notes during lec and review a tiny bit before quizzes you'll get an A. The papers are 2 pages each, and you have to go to a dance performance to write them. Overall, very enjoyable class. Natalie is the sweetest!
Natalie was great at teaching this class! I thought it was going to be just an easy A, but there was a little bit of work to study. She outlines all quizzes in a study guide that, if you do the study guide, you can easily achieve an A on. Super fun and energetic to have, and studio days were a great way to get out of the classroom.
