I took 300 with Neil during the summer time. It was nice because he chopped off a few days from class to give us more time to work on our final paper (which is an ethnographic exercise). I say that it was nice because all we did everyday was watch crappy old educational movies from the 70s and 80s. I was bothered by the smell of cigarette smoke :(

kind-of represents the "dark side" of anthropology (by "dark" i mean ambiguous/gray/ethically relative), which is great. his classes gave a good balance to my other activist, human rights-based anthro courses.

first of all, anthro 100 is hardly difficult regardless of who teaches it. if you got lower than a B in that class consider yourself: a)lazy b)an idiot c)both a and c. profs have more interest in classes that are not mindless intro courses; therefore, whitehead is not to blame for seeming aloof at times. in fact, he's really quite a good prof.
