About this rating

Raw average: 4.14/5 from 7 quality ratings. The adjusted rating blends this with the UW review average (3.66/5), weighted as 20 additional ratings. Smaller samples stay closer to that average. Each captured review is counted once in the prior; this does not correct who chooses to leave a review.

This was the most disorganized class I have ever taken here at UW, let alone an EdPol class. There is no structure and no consistency, it took until about the halfway point to even get into ed policy. Nancy's feedback is vague and confusing. TAs seemed to have no idea what was happening and were unhelpful. Find another natural science credit

Nancy is a sweet, knowledgeable lady, and I appreciate her intentions to teach in an intersectional and holistic way, but it only makes the class messy. No assignments are clear despite them being big parts of our grades and the lectures have almost nothing to do with the work expected of us. Wouldn't take if you like clear direction.

Quality 5/5Difficulty 1/5
Nancy is one of the sweetest and most accommodating professors I've had at UW. Lectures can be boring but the assignments are simple and graded easily, I would recommend this class as an easy natural science breadth credit.

I loved Nancy, she was super sweet, super helpful, and very accomidating. She did tend to go off on tangents in lectures which could become boring, but the class was very easy, just a lot of reading homework. As long as you at least turned it something, and participated in class, you did fine.

Nancy is truly inspirational and makes everyone love EdPol. BUT SHE IS THE REASON I NO LONGER HAVE A 4.0. Grading criteria was extremely unclear (i had 1 grade with 1 week left in the semester), and consequently ended with an AB. Very frustrating because the class was extremely easy and interesting. Loved the class, just watch your grades.

She is not only a wonderful professor, but also just a wonderful human. The class was very reasonable in terms of the work load, and she was also very flexible about shifting the class to fit what worked best for her students. I sincerely hope I have the opportunity to take another class with her because she is so knowledgable, passionate and kind.
