Professor Chana is definitely a kind, compassionate professor who cares about her students. She gives lots of recognition to indigenous communities which is refreshing. Don't take this class if you don't like group projects however, as the midterm and final got you well acquainted with your group. This is a super easy and fun course and an easy A.
Dr. Chana is a wonderful professor, and I highly recommend taking music 103 with her.
Dr. Chana is such a great prof! She is caring, respectful of the cultural music and traditions that we studied in class, and encouraged engagement and questions in lectures. There were also mandatory discussion sections which facilitated learning and review of content. Overall, if you have the chance to take Chana's class, you won't regret it!
Nadia Chana is an amazing professor! She really seems to care about her students. Professor Chana's MUSIC 103 class is light with the workload (probably 2 hours of work per week). Lecture materials are done virtually, but discussion is mandatory. You have two group projects per year (graded easily, and only a couple hours of work as well).
Online asynchronous lectures was a nice convenience, the material is interesting but your engagement depends on your TA for discussion, mine was subpar. Group projects and lecture module responses made up the grade, so it was mostly busy work showing that you understand for an A. Chana seems very passionate about her work, good class and Prof.
Professor Chana is so sweet and definitely cares about the material. Decent amount of work each week, but it's super easy and a nice brain break from more difficult classes. Midterm and final are really simple group projects. Easy A as long as you keep up with weekly discussion posts.
This class was honestly so easy. You still have to do a degree of work, but it's a great break from taking stem classes. Chana is incredibly helpful when you have questions, cares about each genre of music taught, and makes students interested in what she teaches. Attendance is only mandatory for discussion sections, not lectures.
Music 103 has group projects but Nadia set out specific times for the groups to meet so you dont have to meet on your free time. Lectures are online and she makes them very interesting. She is very nice and helpful.
She seems nice, but it is very hard to follow what she is talking about. Kind of just gives off a bad vibe sometimes too. Overall it is a pretty easy class though I suppose.
Not much to say, truly delightful teacher, couldn't be happier to have had her. She turned an easy A course into something I truly care about. Thanks, prof!
Awesome professor! She provided our class with tons of resources to accommodate for the online semester, even with online tea time and an organized layout for us to adjust to the move. She is a very considerate and aware person and is an excellent professor for teaching this topic. Very respectful of all cultures and beliefs.
She is a fantasic professor. The lecture is fun, discussion is good. Three easy homework will be given, a short 500 words ethnography and a easy final contribute all other part of your grade outside of class. Generally, if you like to listen to music, a great class for u.
Professor Chana is a very nice person, but her lectures are a little all over the place and difficult to follow. It was unclear at a lot of points what was expected to be known for the exam. The class itself is not that difficult, mostly discussion attendance and participation, tophat, a few listening assignments and short papers. Easy humanities.
Easy class, but she made it interesting. All the lectures had something fun to them. Wish I didn't have to pay for the Tophat app, but an extra 16 dollars wasn't terrible. If you need an extra easy 3 credits take Music 103, and you'll also get to hear from some interesting speakers on world music. Exams are basically vocab tests. TA was mediocre
