He's a very kind and patient professor who cares about his students' success. You need to go to lecture to get the printed slides (they aren't posted online). There are 7 HWs that are usually challenging (3rd and 4th are the hardest). The semester project is open ended which is nice. Know Matlab, otherwise it will be very difficult

Easy homework but harshly graded projects. If you slightly failed one homework, than you are screwed. Take the graduate version cs766 which is nearly the same thing but has 70% a rate.

The lectures are very conceptual and math heavy, no code is shown in class. If you don't have a strong math background you won't understand what's going on. Only a few lectures have relevance to programming assignments. If you go to office hours he can explain much more clearly and send you in the right direction though. He's an ok professor.
