She has clear criteria and is very straightforward about her expectations. She is very nice and answers questions in a helpful manner, just make sure to read and pay attention and stay caught up in the class and the concepts.

This lab has tough grading, but the professor's expectations are clear. Stay on top of things, participate actively, and prepare well. unstuck ai can be a helpful study tool alongside the lab manual.

This professor is tough, often taking off partial points for little errors and has unclear grading criteria. Unhelpful in lab when asking a question or for guidance. I recommend taking a section with a different professor if you want a chill lab experience. You have to learn to think like her when grading assignments, and then only receive a 16/20.

She is extremely friendly and often answers your questions very quickly and clearly on canvas. She is also very knowledgeable and can handle all sorts of experimental and theoretical questions. Unfortunately, the grading of this course is annoying as the rubrics are interpreted entirely by Dr. Rondon and TAs. Despite this, the course is very fun.

She is a great professor! Yes, this lab has pretty tough grading because of the detail she expects on assignments. However, her expectations are clear and it is easy to do well as long as you stay on top of things, participate in lab, and prepare for class.

she is a tough grader for sure, and will take off a somewhat unfair amount of points for small mistakes. for example, i didnt italicize e.coli once and she took off 15% of my grade for it. ouch! the way she grades can be extremely frustrating, but she does care a lot about helping you get an A. she is very available outside of class and is helpful.

Do not take this class if you are looking for a chill/fun lab. The assignments are extremely stressful (one-hour quizzes with multiple questions on Canvas) and prep quizzes are difficult even when you read the lab manual. Assignment rubrics are very vague then are graded harshly. The professor was also unhelpful when asked questions during lab.

Do not take this class if you are looking for a chill/fun lab. The assignments are stressful (one hour to complete multiple questions on Canvas) and the "prep" quizzes are extremely hard even if you read the lab manual. Many assignments/papers had very vague rubrics but then were graded extremely harshly. Overall frustrating for a two-credit class.

If you are taking this class to learn about microbiology in a chill lab setting, this class is not for you. She is such a hard grader over tiny details and really stingy about points. Even though this is a 2 credit lab, I find myself doing tons of work and having to over-explain myself on every assignment just to get 16 or 17/20.

Such a hard grader. This is supposed to be an intro level class and it does not grade like it. She gives no outline for what is required in weekly summaries and then takes points off everywhere for no reason. I have taken hard classes and succeeded in them (A in Physiology) but this class is so frustrating and tough grading for no reason.

Michelle is such a supportive and kind professor for this lab portion. She will always be available to help clarify the very unclear lab instructions for you and to troubleshoot your mistakes. She has watched my entire lab group make the most heinous of mistakes and has always been there to help us troubleshoot mistakes. the absolute best.

She teaches well, and the lectures are fun and recored if missed. The quizzes and "writing assignments" are the only grades. there were 15 module quizzes and after taking the course, I realized that I studied every week like it was a big exam. they were much harder than expected. writing assignment weren't too hard, but graded harshly taking 102 lab

Absurd class for an intro micro course. Weekly quizzes ask extremely specific questions that make it nearly impossible to get an A on, even with open notes. She also assigns four writing assignments that are usually straightforward, but somehow grades them so harshly that the averages are always low.

Lectures were extremely hard to sit through and so much information was talked about but almost none of it was in-depth or understandable. She relies on outside work and does little teaching. If you can avoid this class I for sure would or know you have to teach yourself. She is inflexible to students and doesn't seem to care too much about them.

She is very helpful, direct, and goes very in-depth in her lectures. A lot of people on here are complaining about this class, but if you attend the lecture, take notes of what she SAYS in the lecture (don't just rely on slides), and follow her clearly stated instructions, you shouldn't have a problem in this class. I would love to have her again.

Lectures are super boring. Grade is based on weekly online open note quizzes and 4 writing assignments. Weekly quizzes are extremely specific, sometimes asked about topics we did not cover in class or in the readings/mini lectures. Super harsh grader.

Extremely boring lecturer. The weekly quizzes are way too specific based off of the lecture material and it's almost impossible to get full credit. There are also writing assignments every few weeks which are graded way too harsh. If you don't write in a complete sentence in a fill in the blank you get the question wrong which is ridiculous.

Never fails to put me to sleep, which is good as a sleep deprived college student. Can always count on a 50 minute nap during lecture. Unclear and unfair grading, makes things way harder than they should be based on the depth of her lectures

do not take microbio101, she makes absolutely nothing clear in lectures, wish it wasn't pass the drop deadline because this is a waste of my time and effort. quizzes are so overly specific that it is not even fair. gives no instructions. gives us no effort but expects so much from us

Open book weekly quizzes, but even with notes, lectures, and slides available, it was still fairly difficult to get a perfect score. Because several quizzes are dropped, she offers little flexibility if you can't make a quiz due to travel/the holidays/you joined the class late. Shouldn't be too hard to get a B or above, but not very interesting.

Professor Rondon was very knowledgeable and I could tell she was passionate about the information she was teaching. However, her weekly quizzes were absurdly specific. She was always available for feedback, but her feedback was never very helpful. Overall, I feel like she was a great professor but she sets her students up to get B's or lower.

very clear with content and does not try to trick you. lectures are kind of boring, but the class is not that difficult.

There is a quiz every Friday that is online, her questions are usually pretty specific and difficult to google. Also, a lot of the questions are based on things she says during lectures that arent necessarily on the lecture slides. I found that when I watched the mini-lectures she provides I do better on the quiz than if I just look at the slides.

Weekly quizzes based on lectures/readings every week so the grading isn't bad (no big stressful exams) but her voice is so annoying She talks so fast in her prerecorded lectures and I have to pause every other second to get down what she's saying - it's too much for when it's brand new But then in the in person lectures she talks painfully slow

Prof Rondon really understands the topic she is teaching and as such is a very good teacher. There is a ton of material from readings to video lectures to the lectures themselves and there is a ton of stuff to learn. Luckily, the quizzes are open notes, and if you do the work required you will do well on the quizzes, which is the bulk of the grade.

Prof Rondon was an awful teacher. She was a dry lecturer, she was unclear in her emails and unapologetic, and she was repetitive. If anyone would ever ask her a question or email her she would copy and paste from the syllabus even if it wasn't a direct answer. She also said our last quiz was a bonus when in actuality if we didn't take it, F.

Prof. Rondon did the absolute minimum when it came to teaching only to do the most when it came to being unaccommodating. Whether it was her absolutely no missing (or threat of a 0) on her one synchronous quiz a week, or her advertising of our last quiz as a "bonus" quiz only to find out if we didn't take it we'd receive a 0, shewas a TERRIBLE prof

Dr. Rondon's PDFs, lectures, and quizzes were highly specific. It's important that you take extremely detailed notes and write down nearly everything she says. Weekly quizzes were open note, and I wouldn't have passed without that. For every module she had an open discussion post where we could ask questions, and she always responded thoroughly.

Class for formatted in a weird way online: one quiz every week. Quizzes were unfair and way too specific. Did not learn anything this semester since it was majority PDF readings and lecture videos that were confusing. Not much assistance from Professor or seemed to care.

Michelle was a good professor who always gave good feedback and responded in a timely manner. Make sure to write down what she says during lectures because that is where quiz questions will come from. Notes were allowed for the quizzes, but the quizzes made you really think about the information. I liked how Michelle related topics to real life.

If you have never taken microbiology before, she can come off as a tough teacher. However, she is a great lecturer and gives lots of opportunities for extra credit. Very accessible outside of class. Lotta reading

Dr. Rondon is amazing. Hands down nobody could have taught this class better than her. She expects a lot from her students, but if you put in the work you will be fine. Exams are very specific, and start studying early for exams. You can email her to meet and she is extremely accommodating and truly cares about the performance of her students.

Prof Rondon really knows her stuff. She knows it so well that she has a hard time organizing it all. Get ready to review confusing slides and shoddy quiz readings. Graded only on quizzes, exams, and TopHat points.

Michelle was a great lecturer. She posts her videos on Canvas. Beware, if you're taking this course with Anat, the exams are in the same week, which made it super hard to study for both. (Memorization) But, she's amazing; just put in the work and you will be just fine.

Michelle got her point across clearly, but was VERY boring. She was clear about what material was the most important for the tests, which were specific but not worded in a tricky way. Once you had all of your TopHat points (about half the lectures) you could skip and watch the uploaded video lectures. Weekly reading assignments and quizzes.

Michelle's lectures were not particularly stimulating, but she got concepts and definitions across crystal clear. You should be ready to process and recall large amounts of information for each test. However, the final is not cumulative so that helps. She gives a few extra credit opportunities, so don't expect much of a curve in the end.

Professor Rondon lectures at a good (sometimes slow) pace and can seem rather dry, but it makes it much easier to understand the concepts that she covers. Don't bother reading the assigned readings outside of using them for answering quiz questions as they hardly ever come up on exams. Focus on lecture slides/notes and the study guides.

Always willing to answer questions before turning anything in. Use the results/discussion sections to study for exam. Quizzes are 5 pts so try your best to get 5/5, it'll help your grade! Exam was straight forward. Concentrate on listing characteristics & grouping to study. Study guide ?'s show up on exams. Lab reports are simple - follow rubric!

Awesome Lab Instructor. Michelle cares and easy to approach. The online quizzes really do make you read the lab manual but they are fair. Lab reports were fair, just follow the rubric. I would send your reports to her to look over before turning it in, she does provide some good feedback. Lab exams are based on results and the objective of the lab

I wouldn't say this class was the most interesting, but Michelle is really caring and will help you. The exams were fairly easy and her study guides are the absolute key to success in the class. Write notes on your laptop because what she says will be on the exams even if its not on the slides. Reading quizzes were difficult though.

Michelle is a dry lecturer but she gets the information across to you clearly. Take detailed notes in lecture especially about what she's saying, not just the slides. The practice study guides she gives are good for the format but I found her multiple-choice exams hard because they are detailed for content. Take the weekly reading quizzes in groups

Dry lecture, but the last unit on pathology diseases is quite interesting. Quizzes require reading, and lecture is mandatory if you want TopHat participation. I would type notes or print off her lec slides beforehand. Exams range from being general or having very very specific questions. Memorize class notes and use her study guide only as a guide!

Michelle is knowledgeable and well-prepared for lectures. I did not find her lectures very stimulating however. By the end of the semester, I was only showing up to class for Tophat credit. It was incredibly hard to focus. The exams are fair and her study guides really help prepare you for them. Weekly quizzes are average difficulty.

Everything you need to know is on the slides. Use the study guide questions to study from, know all the definitions, and learn to categorize/list to study! Very very dry lecturer, but she knows her stuff. It isn't hard if you study, but you definitely need to know the info.

Michelle is a great lecturer and she is very knowledgable about the content. Her slides have very few words, so you need to attend lecture and write down everything she says about the slides because it is all fair game for the exams. Exams are non-cumulative, 45 multiple choice questions. 5 quizzes (20%), 4 exams (72%), Tophat participation (8%)

Michelle is a pretty good professor, and gicvs a lot of study prep. 4 exams, no final, 6 quizzes and participation is the biggest part of the grade. Going to lecture and writing down EVERYTHING she says is a must. Be prepared to absorb and be able to explain massive amounts of information for her exams.

Michelle is a very clear professor and will answer any question you have. There were 6 quizzes a semester and they were challenging, but her exams are much easier and if you go to class and pay attention to what she says you will be fine. Her slides have very minimum words on it so attending lecture is a must.

There are weekly quizzes not mentioned previously on here, but overall I enjoyed this class. It peaked a lot of interests for me and my fellow classmates, because it gives a general sphere of microbial influences in the real world. I liked Rondon, and there was a lot of material. The test criteria was entirely lecture based, so that was nice.

I really like the way Michelle formats her lectures. Tests are based on lecture, and everything you need to know is on her slides. However, she will go into a lot of detail about some slides so you need to be there to write down what she's saying because lectures aren't recorded. Overall, if you put effort into it not a hard class.

All multiple choice exams and only 5 quizzes. No discussions was nice

All multiple choice exams and only 5 quizzes. No discussions was nice.

Exams are taken straight off of the lecture. If you try hard you can get an A. Gives extra credit opportunities. Very knowledgable and approachable.

Pretty easy class. Four exams all are 40 questions multiple choice, nothing is cumulative. There are readings that are important for the quizzes, but she doesn't put anything from the readings on the exams. Clicker points are a chunk of the grade, based on correct answers not participation usually. Overall a class that doesn't require a ton of work

Micro101 is a great class for people looking to go into healthcare. Michelle is a clear lecturer but sometimes her lecture slides don't have much information, so writing down everything she says is a must. She offers a good amount of extra credit, so if you put in work, getting an A or AB isn't too tough. I would take this class again with her.

She rocks! Prof Rondon spoke clearly in lecture. She was always willing to stay after class and/or respond on the discussion board online if you had any questions about the material. Would totally take another class with her, she's amazing!

I really enjoyed the classes with Michelle. She had an online discussion for our class where she would answer questions we had. She made the material interesting and not too complicated. Exams were fair and pretty easy if you studied.

Michelle is the bomb. She is a silver fox.

Michelle is the best. Her hair and her knowledge both earned my respect on the first day of lecture. She always lets you out early, and makes lecture interesting. I was worried that microbiology would be really difficult, but if you put in the work, Michelle has got your back!

Amazing lecturer. Summer class and I went everyday because she made learning the material fun. No text book over the summer. They put they readings online.

Professor Rondon was always available to answer questions. She makes her exams straight from her lecture slides. The readings are optional. Very interesting material. Very relevant to anyone going into the field of health. Study for her exams using the lecture slides and you will do well on the exams. Make sure to do the extra credit quiz!

Michelle is a great professor. Her expectations are clear, and her tests are straight from lecture. She gives you many resources (specific readings, powerpoint, quizzes, study guides, and practice tests), so it is an easy ABA as long as you put some effort in.

Michelle's lectures are very clear and to the point. Although the material can be a little dry, she occasionally cracks jokes and the class "wakes up" a bit. The study guides provided really prepare you for what's on the exams. Your grade consists of four 80 point exams (320 total), ten 10 point quizzes, & 40 clicker points (out of 50) & bonus quiz

Her lectures are clear cut and straightforward, but they can be really boring. I had a hard time paying attention in class, because she speaks quietly and rather monotone. If you can get past that her class is a breeze.

I posted this right before one of the midterm. Her lecture is really clear and she tries to make everything as interesting as possible. The exam is detail oriented, so that remember every possible slide. AND she really replied every single question asked in the discussion board very well. Definitely one of the greatest professor.

Easiest class I've had to take at UW so far. Four 40 multiple choice midterms and no final. No textbook, she basically just reads off the lecture slides. There are online quizzes weekly but no homework. The class shouldn't take much of your time and is an easy A.

Not a lot of outside thinking; if you play the game, you win. Tests are facts discussed in lecture, exams and final are not cumulative. If you can memorizeknow details from all the lectures in a unit, super easy A.

She outlines the important things in the lecture and tries to make it as interesting as possible.

Professor Rondon was an okay professor. Her lectures were usually pretty clear, but there is a lot of content and they were kind of boring. You have to study for tests but they are based off exactly what is on the lecture slides, which are posted online. You have to go to lecture to get iclicker points.

Rondon's tests are fair and limited to the lecture material, so go to lecture and take a few notes. Study slidesnotes a few times and you'll be fine. Clicker points are handy, so go to class.

Very clear definitions, exams are very specific. Have to know the lecture slides really well. Answers questions clearly and is very helpful.

Easy attendance points with clicker questions. 4 exams, not cumulative. In order to do well on the exams, study and MEMORIZE all lecture slides. Lecture is boring but make sure you understand the slides. No extra credit offered.

Some say her lectures are dry. she is not particularly enrapturing, but she speaks with a high degree of clarity; every definition is crisp and her lectures are concise and never in the least bit vague or ambiguous, and this little lady sure knows her stuff. Frankly, if you aren't interested enough to pay attention, you shouldn't be in the class.

Very good professor, she's very helpful outside of class and does everything to help you succeed. Make sure to study slides as that's what the exams come from.

While lecture is very dry and boring sometimes, you should defiantly go because some slides need explaining. No required book. Prof Rondon is very nice and helpful outside of class and will always further explain things if you need more clarification! Exams are fair, but you definitely need to study for them.

Extremely intelligent and makes class interesting

Go to every single lecture, there is no textbook. Must take notes to supplement the powerpoint.

The class is well-designed and covers a lot of ground, hence a lot of effort needs to be put in to do well. Dr Rondon is very well-read and knows a lot about the latest research in Microbiology. If you pay attention to to her lectures, you will find that she explains concepts very clearly. Strongly recommended Microbio elective.

She gives incredibly boring lectures but is very helpful outside of class and by email if you need it! She is super nice just a very boring course. 4 exams, they are very very easy if you do all the study guides she provides. It's a big lecture so obviously she doesn't take attendance but there is no textbook so it's probably better to go.

Pretty straightforward class, 4 noncumulative exams, no textbook, only powerpoints. Make sure to go to lecture because some slides need explanation. The material itself is a little dry, but she does her best to make it fun. She is extremely helpful outside of class and is just an overall great person!

Host and microbe interaction, 3 exams, co-taught with robin. She explains things pretty well although her lecture is extremely boring. I don't agree with other commenters. Her slides are not that wordy, but rather you have to take notes in her class. Exams are straight off from the study guide (verbatim). I would highly recommend.

She was a great professor. Her lectures are straight forward and interesting. Attendance is mandatory; don't skip class. She's helpful to answer questions after class and she accommodates you nicely if you are sick for an exam or something. Her exams aren't easy, but if you put in the time you should be fine. I scored an 80 on her hardest exam.

Very boring professor. She reads directly off her slides, which contain a TON of information. The exams are very straight-forward and fair though, so as long as you know all the information on the slides, the exam is easy. But the lecture will make you want to sleep.

I love Professor Rondon, she fair, is really helpful outside of class and has well put together lectures

She is a good person but not necessarily a good professor. She always gives us ppt and it seems like ppt is more useful than lecture to me. She put a lot of things on it and basically read through it. Her test is not very hard but some of them are a little tricky. I am wondering if I can get better scores if this class have discussion section.

She may just be my least favorite professor. I prefer my o-chem lecture to this class. She seems like a wonderful person, but her lectures are God awful. She's so boring, dry, and reads way to fast. The tests aren't hard by any means, but I cannot stress enough how un-engaging and terrible this class is. Only take this class if it's required.

One of my favorite professors, if you studied the tests were pretty straight forward. Provided a study guide, did not need book.

Lecture is boring, and she goes way too fast to get everything she needs to say but she is clear. Test was okay, you really have to get behind all the wordiness.

This class is definitely not an easy A, and it was annoying that there was no book, but do (and KNOW/UNDERSTAND) the study guides well and ask questions and I guarantee you'll do great!

Michelle was very helpful and approachable. This class was not easy by an means, but she gave us study guides for each exam. She is very understanding and willing to help her students if they are willing to put in the effort too. Attend lectures and take your own notes and you will be fine.

What she says in lecture is more important than what is on the slides. Would recommend printing out slides and taking notes on what she says. Be sure to study slides tho. Really boring, found it hard to pay attention.

She was an extremely boring lecturer and her slides were very wordy which made taking notes and listening to her difficult. Also, her test was not representative of her lectures. I thought she was a poor professor.

Good lecturer. Easy grading. She did misuse powerpoint in class by making her slides way too wordy, which made it difficult to simultaneously listen to her lecture and take down important notes.

She's a good lecturer, she speaks clearly enough so that everyone can hear, and definitely doesn't go too fast. Her lecture slides sometimes can get wordy. She also posted a study guide for the exam which was extremely helpful.

Not bad at all. Staying awake for the 8 AM lectures is difficult, but she posted her lecture notes practically word for word and gives you all the graphics. If you go over the notes before the class, you're practically guaranteed to pass.

Rondon's a great professor! She can explain so clearly all the concepts on microbiology. I thoroughly enjoyed Bact 303 under her as I felt that I've learnt so much. She always willing to help. And of course you have to come to every lecture. As long as you don't fall asleep for this 8 am lesson, it's really one of the easiest Biology courses.

I wouldnt call her a good teacher, but I wouldnt call her a bad one either. Exams are tough and based only on lectures. I suggest printing off the lecture summaries online and studying those with the notes handed out in class.

Good Teacher. Passes out notes every three lectures or so and does this so you dont have to purchase the book. Going to lecture is very important because the exams are based heavily on what she says and not only what is in the notes. She is always willing to help. Great Teacher.
