Dr. Ciucci is incredible. Incredible. Incredible. Incredible. The most personable professor ever. She's incredibly smart but teaches in a way that is palatable and engaging. As someone intimidated by STEM, Dr. Ciucci has been a large help in helping me truly understand content.
Ciucci was a nice person, but boy was this class tough. I know you'd expect that with any A/P class, but get ready to spend the majority of your time studying. Most of the time it felt like she was looking at the slides for the first time. She was nice but not well versed in the information because it was her first time teaching 201. It's tough!
Professor Ciucci is a fantastic researcher, but this class is tough. For the first few lectures, since it was her first time teaching this class, it was painful. But I'm glad I stuck with it. She's SO nice and took the time to meet with me on a weekend to answer all my questions. She really cares about our feelings and wants us all to succeed.
Dr. Ciucci is an incredibly smart woman, and she knows her stuff. Even with an academic background as extensive as her's, she possesses to ability to articulate concepts at a palatable level, which not all professors do well. This is an elementary level class, but you still need to work hard. Reference the learning objectives frequently to succeed!
Science is not my strong suit and this class is a fully anatomy and physiology class, but it was not that bad. She does just read off the slides which can get boring. You do take an exam about every 2-3 weeks, so be prepared. She does offer extra credit. I thought prof Ciucci was nice and funny.
I took this class because I was interested in speech pathology. It was SO hard, fully anatomy and physiology based (which I was unaware of when signing up) and Professor Ciucci had never taught this course before. She only read off the slides and would get upset when we wouldn't know anything for the exams. least favorite class ever.
Prof Ciucci may seem like a nice person at first, but actually turns out to be really rude sometimes. Her lectures are the only way to learn the info and they are usually too long for her to even finish them during the lecture times. She just reads the info directly from the slides. The class is about memorizing brain anatomy, not comm disorders.
Prof. Ciucci is very approachable and accessible in and outside of class. However, be prepared to learn A LOT of information in her lectures. Because there aren't any readings or pre-work for classes, the bulk of material is taught in class. It can be very overwhelming, but just stay on top of the learning objectives, and you'll be fine.
This class was a TON of work. There is so much material to learn and many times the professor goes over lecture time, so you have to watch videos outside of class. Do not take this course unless you have to. Exams and Quizzes were not horrible but there is a lot of information to learn for them.
Professor Ciucci read off slides and does not provide answers to questions but tells you to look for yourself. She spends 10-20 minutes each class rambling about her personal life and talking about her political views but she doesnt use Honorlock and I appreciate that.
This class is not about disability; it is memorizing the anatomy of the brain - which sucks. But then, when the class did too well on the first exam, she reduced the amount of available review material for the second. Exams are filled with "gotcha" wording. She does not take emails. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. You have been warned.
OML I love Michelle. She's hilarious, knows her stuff, and makes it easy to get an A. She has "learning objectives" which is basically everything you should know for exams. 3 exams (last one is online), online quizzes for hw throughout the year, 3 small assignments. Ugh I just want to be her friend she's the coolest. 10/10 recommend
Actually ended up loving this course. I definitely had to put a lot of work in, but an A was very attainable (I actually got over 100% in the class because there was so much extra credit) and I learned a lot. If you're a CSD major interested in science, you'll definitely find this course interesting. One of my favorite classes, recommend!
Professor Ciucci is very organized and knows her stuff. The lectures and learning objectives are great. Be sure to go back and study them before the exam. DO NOT BUY THE TEXTBOOK. Everything you need to know is directly out of lecture. Save your dollars.
Michelle Ciucci is THE BOMB. Best professor I have ever had at the University. She knows her stuff, explains it well, gives you EVERYTHING you need to know on the exam ahead of time, her exams are super straight forward and she is always willing to help. The book is awesome, read and attend class and you will get an A
verrry organized and clear about what will be on the test. the learning objectives save my life! I'm a com dis major and ciucci's classes have been my favorite because she is so remarkably organized about what you have to study. also super interesting lectures, experienced and credible professor
I am not a science major, I just took this class for a bio science breadth. I had no idea what I was getting into. Very boring material that I struggled to understand, let alone memorize. However, Professor Ciucci was very fair in giving us chances to boost our grade so I still ended up with an AB. Ciucci is very funny and personable as well!
Michelle is an awesome professor. CSD 210 is VERY boring material, but she presents it in a way that makes it less dry. The exams are hard and are all multiple choice, but she lets you have a notecard on the final, so that helped a lot.
This class is very difficult, but she is a great professor! Very knowledgeable and easy to talk to! Just be ready to do A LOT of studying. The amount of material she covers is sort of insane, but if you're into comm dis or neuro you will enjoy it. Overall learned a lot, just be ready to put in a lot of time and effort.
Tests are hard and lectures are long. She put a few narrated powerpoints online and those could (and did) put me to sleep. Keep up with the learning objectives and memorize them early. Don't buy the textbook-it was useless.
One of my favorite Com Dis classes so far. Very difficult but interesting. Tons of information so keep up with the lectures and use the learning objectives to study.
Ciucci is the BEST professor I've ever had and this was probably my favorite course of undergrad! That being said, don't take it unless you are a CSD major or a really into neuroscience because it is very challenging. Be ready to work and study, but definitely possible to get an A. Do ALL the extra credit (up to 25 points) and don't buy text book
Very very boring lectures. she posts slides and reads directly off of them. don't buy the textbook. really, don't buy it. I didn't go to class the last few months and still got an AB.
Great orator. The most difficult com dis class I've taken, imo. Almost always tested on objectives, but there is an overwhelming amount of information. Sensorimotor lectures very hard to follow. Don't get the textbook!
I really enjoyed this class. Dr. Ciucci is one of the smartest and best professors I've ever had. She knows what she's talking about and how to lecture a class with this much material. She also makes it fun. No, it's not easy but come on, it's neuroscience. If you try you'll do fine. 5 exams, 100 points for online quizzes, and EC.
I absolutely love Ciucci! I came out of the semester having learned so much which is what she truly wants. It is by no means easy, but she definitely modified the class so it's not as difficult anymore. This was my favorite Comm. Dis. class so far. Take it with her if you can! Don't buy the textbook.
She has honestly done a lot to make the class easier. She now has ten quizzes which are an easy 100 points and from what other people have said, she's cut back quite a bit on the material. Still not an easy class, but it's definitely possible to get an A. She also offers extra credit and is much more flexible than some other professors I've had.
She is a very good professor, but is extremely tough. I spent hours every night studying for this course. Fortunately, my boyfriend was in his final rotation of medical school, which was Neuro. He was a great help. His slides for his lectures were strikingly similar to mine. STUDY STUDY STUDY!!!
This is a VERY difficult 200 level course. She goes through 60ish slides a day, and thus, there is a lot of material covered for each exam. She kind of talks like some of the material is common sense, but the problem is none of us are Neuro PHDs like she is. I would not take this class with her unless you absolutely have to.
The material is really dense and paced at an intermediate level. It will be difficult if you have no prior experience/knowledge of neuroanatomy. This was her first time teaching this course, so I'm sure her teaching methods will improve with experience. She's very approachable and willing to help. Exams are hard, but fair
She loves what she does but doesn't seem to be a good undergrad teacher. Drops lowest grade and gives extra credit which is nice and needed because its impossible to do really well. Wait to take with a different teacher!
